Staying in Orlando vs port Canaveral

Going on a cruise that leaves in February out of Port Canaveral. Flying in the day before(2-14-20) at 6pm.  I was thinking we would stay at a hotel by the airport then catch a shuttle the next morning to the port. First time out of Port Canaveral where we did not drive. I was wondering if this is a good plan or not.  Thanks in advance.

That will work just fine. We've done exactly that as have many others.

We prefer to stay in Orlando - lots more hotels to choose from -and make our way to PC in the morning.

That's always what we do. We book through Go Port Canaveral and get all the shuttles and hotel for a great price. If we were spending more than an evening in town, maybe we'd stay in PC, but a few hours before bed doesn't warrant the extra money in our opinion.

Thank you for the question (and everyone for their answers) as I just thought of this same question yesterday, but hadn't posted it yet.  I'm coming in the night before my cruise in January and wondered the same.  I won't get in until late (around midnight) though
