Best mode of travel from anchorage to Seward.

Our flight arrives too late to do the train, so what are the other options for getting from ANC to Seward?

options include .... cruiseline shuttle, Park Connection Bus (alaskacoach.com) Seward Buslines, HERTZ rental car, limo/taxi, several private shuttle companies such as ACT (https://alaskacruisetransfer.com/ ).

It's about 125 miles, 2 1/2 hr drive.

 

Your ship may also have a cruiseline contracted train which has different times that the regular schedule.

My preference is a one way car rental with Hertz, especially if you have time for stops between Anchorage & Seward.

 This is what we did last year but currently the price is nowhere near what I’m willing to spend on a rental car. I’ll keep checking. Flight lands a little after noon in ANC.

The Alaska Cruise Transfer (ACT Bus) worked great for us. They pick up right at the arrival terminal exit.

Rental car prices in Alaska are breathtaking when one starts shopping for a rental car.

We did the bus for $65PP. 2+ hour ride thru wonderful scenic country. No stops and drops you off right in Seward.

We did the Park Connection Bus Anchorage to Seward.  Departure point was the Anchorage Museum.  The nice thing about this is that we arrived around noon for the 3 p.m. bus and they held our luggage for us so we could explore the city.  We ended up visiting the Museum and had time for a bit of shopping.

 

The view along Turnagain Arm is gorgeous and Seward drop off is a breeze.  Along the route you will see the "Ghost Trees".  These are the trees that were destroyed in the 1964 Earthquake.  Interesting info here if you'd like to check it out...

We plan on doing the bus again next year.
