Late Flight Home, What to Do In FLL/Miami All Day

We have a late (9:50pm) flight home from Miami on Sunday, 12/29 and are wondering what in the world to do all day between disembarking in Ft Lauderdale and boarding our flight home. The idea of having to deal with our luggage and boredom for 12 hours with a 14 year old is a little daunting. We ended up with this late flight due to the high prices around holiday travel and deciding on this particular cruise last minute (we will plan better next time!)... That said, we have never been to the Miami area and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions with how to spend the day and/or what to do about our luggage? Thanks!

Some hotels offer day passes -- you could check on that.

I was going to recommend Dirty Ernie's for lunch but I just found out it closed in 2017. Have a nice relaxing lunch at 15th Street Fisheries and stroll the beach. There are also neat museums near downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

Go to Miami airport and store your luggage at the aiport.

Then taxi/bus to downtown or South Beach.

there are many ideas, such as water taxi. Luggage can be checked off the ship directly on to your flight via Luggage Direct. You could do a ship's excursion that drops you at the airport. Bags would go in the belly of the bus.
