OBC in the Casino

As new Regent Cruisers I did ask this previously and received an definite response of NO from helpful CC contributors . Disappointing for us but there you go .

However , it may be just a rumour , but it has been mentioned here that it may now be possible with the proviso of a fee for doing so. ( as several other cruise lines permit )

Can anyone onboard , or with knowledge of such , clarify as to whether this is the case now ?

I know on Crystal and some other lines you can apply for a line of credit.  However, you cannot use any onboard credit given to you.  I’m not sure why Regent does not offer this service.  I take markers on Crystal and other lines we sail just like Las Vegas.

According to the FAQ section for Regent (https://www.rssc.com/frequently-asked-questions/onboard  )

What are the Casino Policies:

Guests must be 18 or older to enter or gamble in the casinos on our ships. US dollars are used. A 3% fee will be charged to your account if we receive a cash advance against your shipboard account. There is a $3,000 maximum per guest per day for these cash advances.

I saw nothing in the above post regarding OBC being used in the Casino.  That verbiage indicates you can get a cash advance against your shipboard account (less 3 pct) that as I understand it will be charged to your credit card.  The only question remains whether it will be charged as a cash advance on the card itself. As of earlier this year, a non-refundable OBC could not be used in the Casino.

Best idea is to check once you get aboard.  Seems cruise lines don't want to give you your provided OBC in cash but, on one unnamed cruise line was actually able to get cash toward the end of the cruise on my non-refundable OBC.

Not sure if this will work on Regent and wasn't supposed to work on this unnamed cruise line but, here goes.  Was able to put my cruise card in the slot machine (never play slots as sure to lose if playing too long).  Was able do draw out cash from the card to put on the machine.  Then simply cashed out the machine without pulling the lever even once.  Went to the casino cage and cashed out my winnings in cash.  Worked like a charm the first time I tried so on last nite cashed out the balance of my non-refundable OBC and took it home as cash rather than overpriced items I didn't really need from the ship store.

Sure there are other workarounds the cruise line hasn't closed like perhaps signing for chips at the table from your onboard account if they don't charge a fee and then cash out the chips at the cage for cash.  Not sure how that will work but, no harm trying as any charges for the chips will show on the chit you sign.

Perhaps someone onboard now might be able to answer the question .... I'm sure there are others who would also just like to get a firm answer either way . ? I dont mind really , we will have a flutter in the casino anyway - I would prefer that to purchasing something I really dont want or need and the provided included excursions will do us fine .

Seems a little silly , giving you something and then not allowing you to spend it where you want .. just MHO .
