Room selection on Grandeur

I'm trying to help out my in-laws with booking a New England cruise on Grandeur out of Baltimore.  I've only been on the Oasis class ships for the past 10 years, and I know nothing about Grandeur.  They're planning to get an oceanview window room, since the balcony rooms are twice as much.  Any tips on general room selection, such as floor, whether its better to be near the forward or aft elevators, etc?  Thanks in advance!

Spacious Ocean View on deck 7 would be my choice.  I'd stay away from deck 8 so they are not directly under the pool deck.

Darn, looks like that room type isn't available on the sailing they're looking at (9/17/20).  I only see decks 2, 3, and 4.

Thenk I'd stick with decks 2 or 3.  I believe deck 4 has the outside promenade over it, so there could the chair scraping noises from above.

Deck 4 is where we stay in OV rooms.  It's underneath the casino mid-ship and theater in the front.  We were just in 4021 and it was perfect -- far enough away from the Centrum to avoid the noise, and pretty close to the forward elevators.  You could only slightly hear the theater during the day when they were rehearsing.

No, Deck 4 is best. I like about one quarter to one third of the way back from the centrum.

Thanks all...looks like there aren't any deck 4 ocean view rooms left on their sailing...I think they'll end up booking deck 2 near the aft elevators, but I'll keep an eye out for them for any deck 4 rooms that may open up.

To our surprise Grandeur rooms on deck 2 have been quiet. Normally we don’t book lower decks on other ships, but twice we booked deck 2 on Grandeur and were pleased

Deck 2 has the small portholes.  The ones on deck 3 are larger.

 

We stayed in 3048, but the one drawback was internet service was non-existent in the cabin.   You had to stand by the door to get service.  Of course, internet was horrible on this ship during our cruise, and many asked for a refund.
