Fayea Posted February 2, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2020 Good morning, How do I find out exactly what room credit covers? Can it be used in the casino? We prepaid gratuities. I was told by an experienced cruiser to request a refund for that and use the room credit to pay it? First time cruiser!
Rare 1025cruise Posted February 2, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2020 OBC covers any onboard purchase you make.
Fayea Posted February 2, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted February 2, 2020 We booked our first cruise ever through a travel gent. The cruise has now dropped substantially in price. The travel gent contacted the cruise line and the best we were offered is $105.00 OBC. I read about others getting refunds. Should I push my agent more, go to the cruise line or be happy with my $105.00 credit?

Is the TA sharing the commission with you? Etc, etc.

For example, with Royal Caribbean: j* If it's still before final payment, we can adjust our price to the lower price. j* If we booked directly with RCCL, we call them and they adjust it. * If we booked with a travel agent, we call the travel agent who calls RCCL. * We usually book over a year or more in advance and watch for price drops and call when we see one. * Pretty easy...we've never had problems. * Note: Some cruises will go down in prices...some will go up. * If it's AFTER final payment, and the price drops, all we could do is ask and a couple of times received a cabin upgrade and small OBC. Rare Host Kat Posted February 2, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2020 @Fayea Howdy and welcome to Cruise Critic! Thank you for your two new threads on the First Tme Cruisers forum that is for general questions. 👍 Since your topics concern a specific cruise line, your two threads titled Price drop and Norwegian Dawn have been merged into one thread titled Price drop. And then the merged thread has been moved to the Norwegian Cruise Line forum where it will be on-topic. I sincerely hope this will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat
Rare Liljo22 Posted February 2, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2020 (edited) If it’s after final payment, you can not get a refund. They will offer 25% of the price change in obc or maybe a cabin upgrade. Edited February 2, 2020 by Liljo22
herdingdogmom Posted February 3, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 3, 2020 The OBC from NCL due to a price drop is non refundable. No refunds or rebooking after final payment for a price drop. the NR OBC can not be used to pay the DSC/daily gratuities. As mentioned, it can be used for any purchases on board (specialty dining, drinks, photos, spa) and it can be used in the casino.
RolandofGilead Posted February 3, 2020 #9 Share Posted February 3, 2020 related to this. if you book after the final payment date be sure to check pricing for 48hrs after you book. If the price drops within 48hrs you can get the cruise repriced via the best price guarantee.
