Dining package question

🙂 hi all.  I’m new to royal, I normally have cruised ncl in the past.  My question is, I purchased the 3 night dining package. I am unable to make reservations for the specialty restaurants and times for this package.  I called royal and the lady informed me I have to wait until I board the ship to do this.  Can this be right?  I don’t want to get stuck going to a restaurant I don’t want or eating 9:00 pm .  Any advice please thanks!

That is correct.  You can make changes once on-board.

You get a price break in exchange for having to wait for reservations on board - if you want a certain venue at a certain time, you need to pay full price.
