wesport Posted February 19, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2020 We have four friends who were on a 3/2 15 night on the Constellation. The original cruise started in Dubai, three stops in India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and ended in Singapore. The new itinerary eliminated Thailand, then cancelled Singapore with the cruise ending with 4 sea days and ending in Dubai. Obviously the Singapore change was major. Now, a 15 night cruise has 6 sea days total. Celebrity offered $500 to change flights and 1/15 of the fare in and obc for the Thailand cancellation. With the current situation, none of them want to be half way around the world with the current coronal virus. I told them to call and see if Celebrity would just let them take an equivalent Caribbean cruise, as we all live in Fort Lauderdale. They wouldn't lose any money and would be a happy customer. Both parties were told to accept the new itinerary or lose 100% of the fare. No other options. Seems a bit harsh. Seems like HAL is handling these issues somewhat better.
wesport Posted February 19, 2020 Author #2 Share Posted February 19, 2020 By the way, they cancelled, lost all their money and would never sail Celebrity.
St Pete Cruiser Posted February 19, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Wow, that is severe. I thought the Westerdam guests made out very well.
Rare kazu Posted February 19, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2020 I believe that the Westerdam passengers scheduled to cruise on Feb. 1st who opted not to go were not given any benefits and lost 100% of their fare as well. It seems to me @Level six reported this.
