Question on pre-paid gratituties

I have always been able to pre pay gratuities online when booking NCL.  I have noticed that NCL no longer provides that option.  Is this something new?

This was a cruise just booked a few weeks ago.

Go onto your summary page.  It's listed after the payment bar.  (About 3/4 of the way down the page). It's a bar called "Pre-pay service charges"

We had an issue when pre-paying service charges earlier this week. Although it’s just two of us for a 3 day and the shopping cart said $90 - we were charged $500+. Called and refund issued for the difference but no real explanation. So just verify what you authorize hits your card.

If you add the pre-paid gratuities as seen above, they'll be added as a shopping cart item and you'll need to pay right now.

 

If you call NCL to update your existing reservation with the pre-paid gratuities, the amount is added to your total payment due on whatever date.

I'd advice to pay on the ship. If you happen to have any issue and want to partially or fully cancel the gratuities, its much more complicated if you pre-paid for them.
