Am I able to use a Carnival gift card on board or do I have to transfer it to my S&S account? 

If I have to transfer the card, do I just go to GS?

All purchases on board are made using your S&S card.  You can apply the gift card to your S&S account when you board or by going to Guest Services while on board.  It will act as a credit toward your S&S account.  Any amount unused (greater than $10) will be refunded to you by mail in the form of another gift card, or you can use the casino trick to cash it out.

That's exactly what I do as soon as I board the ship. Go directly to GS, and apply the g.c.'s to the S&S account. Everything you purchase on a ship, no matter what it is, has to come off your S&S account.

You can also apply the gift card to your sign & sail at the kiosks- if the guest service line is too long.

I have not been on a cruise since 2012 and am going in May. You mention the “casino trick”. Is that where they let you get cash off sign and sail? I was wondering if they still allow that.

I, personally, have never gotten the kiosk to work with gift cards.  YMMV.

You cannot simply get cash off your S&S secured by a gift card.  You can use your S&S to fund your player's bank at a slot machine, take a pull or two, and then go the casino cashier to cash out your player's bank.

Thanks. I’m not concerned about getting money off the gift card as it will be spent. I just wanted to know if I need to bring additional cash for the casino or if I could still just use my S&S. Seems like I can.
