sidari Posted March 15, 2020 #26 Share Posted March 15, 2020 Customer's were allowed to board Splendida for the TA to Genoa, after setting sail they were told of a change to the itinerary and from reading posts elsewhere it seems like it could be 22 days at sea! A passenger on the roll call said they were allowed to stop at Khasab, Oman and the new itinerary (as it was today anyway) has next scheduled stop as Heraklion - so 11 days at sea! The Greeks have already closed public places, so looks ominous for the Greece stops. And everything closed if they do! Disembarkation has moved from Genoa to Marseilles but that must be a concern with France imposing internal travel restrictions today.
sidari Posted March 15, 2020 #28 Share Posted March 15, 2020 CF ... We are in touch with friends on Corfu and as you say they have been told to stay at home for 14 days with only shops open and fuel stations. France will be on lockdown so it could be that finding a port to disembark passengers will grow even less by the day.
CruisingFox27 Posted March 15, 2020 #29 Share Posted March 15, 2020 Sid, someone else on the roll call has posted news of Greek port closures. How official I'm not sure though; http://www.ekathimerini.com/250665/article/ekathimerini/news/further-restrictions-to-travel-cruise-ships-banned The potential of having nowhere to disembark was our major concern, so grateful we were allowed into Dubai and unusually for us we flew straight home. I really think we should've all debarked in Dubai.
sidari Posted March 15, 2020 #30 Share Posted March 15, 2020 (edited) Just read details of the shut down, Cruise ships and all sail boats banned from Greek ports from today. Supermarkets will be regulated to stop panic buying, beaches are closed. Anyone flouting the new laws will face a 5,000 Euro fine, suspension of Ferry services to Italy apart from good, flights to and from Spain suspended, borders with Albania and North Macedonia closed apart from goods. It's Opera (unless MSC has more than one ship serving as a hospital)
