Advice anyone....worried mum

Recommended Posts

Hi RCI Regulars

I'm a frequent visitor to the Celebrity boards (so will be posting there to).

We are in the UK and my son & DiL flew out to Miami earlier this week to be embarking on Serenade on Friday just gone. Us at home have obviously been watching as the virus problem gets worse (& I guess as parents ⁴we hoped the trip would be cancelled before they boarded).

Well it appears they must have been one of the last to leave since the decision to suspend came just a few hours later.

DS has since been in touch a few hours ago and seems oblivious to the latest developments...I have only just discovered this myself.

Ideally I would like to see the ship turn around and make a quick return so that at least they could try and get an earlier flight back home before Mr. Trump totally shuts the door on UK. But from the announcement it would appear they intend for ships to continue their current journeys.

So ..question I have..does anybody have any further update on what might be happening for ships just starting out ?

Or anyone know of any other Brits who will need to be travelling home in the next few weeks..either coming off a ship or otherwise.

Everything for this is made worse as DS is due to start a new job in April so has to get back home 😱

Any views appreciated.

Thanks

A worried mum

My guess and it's only a guess is that U.K. citizens should be able to fly home just like U.S. citizens are able to fly from the U.K. to the U.S.  Here they have to go through a screening process before they leave the air port. I don't know what they are doing in the U.K. as far as that's concerned.  Do you have their flight information? I would call the airlines with the return flight information and question them. They would know more than any of us on CC.

I just read some of the replies on the Celebrity Board. Are you able to communicate with them while they are on the cruise? If so I would get their flight information if you don't already have it and monitor the flight cancelations. Perhaps you can gather information for them so they don't have to scramble at the last minute to change flights.

That's going to be up to the UK more than the US as it would fall under repatriation at this point I think.

It probably isn't going to be an enjoyable experience. There will more than likely be quarantine, either here or there (hopefully not both).
