VitaminSea53 Posted May 16, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2020 I am reading that Venice is taking a hard look (again) at not allowing “mega ships” to dock. They want to reinvent tourism now that they have experienced a quieter uncrowded city. Does anyone have inside information on the future of cruises In and out of Venice? CruiserBruce Posted May 16, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2020 Discussed just down the board, here: and here: and here: and several other times. Perhaps the Covid shutdown is putting a new spin on this...yes, no crowds and the canals are cleaning up. But there isn't much other economy in Venice besides tourism, so the money is hard to wean off of.
Rare steamboats Posted May 16, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2020 The last I´ve read is that the major of Venice wanted the tourists back... As there is currently no option for the large cruise ships to use another way to get into port I doubt that there will be any changes soon. BTW they skipped the entrance fee for 2020. steamboats
