The ONLY time that we have been offered an upgrade was 2 years ago. We had an inside cabin booked on the Valor. Five minutes after boarding the ship, my cellphone rang and it was from Carnival. The rep asked if I would be interested in moving to a balcony cabin? I said "sure, how much?" She had the nerve to say $800! I told her to forget it, that I would spend my $800 elsewhere. I will probably never get another upgrade offer again.

I agree. I think carnival hates me. Still with the every day offers of a cheap cruise in australia. STOP.

 

Rcl so far is also batting 0 on upgrade offers. I got a decent royal up (their name) ... the day after they cancelled my april 26th cruise. I think I shop for the best deals and maybe they start with those who paid the most? I never get offers to upgrade, or that one that was terrible. I would only take one to a balcony. On carnival I can do portholes the same price as inside, why would I pay $200 more?

I received 2 offers for my cruise in August the first was last July for $ 22 from ov to deluxe ocean view and $ 400 to go to a balcony on 9. We took the deluxe ocean view. In november the offer was a balcony on 6 for $250, I turned it down but I now regret it.

My upgrade offer was when I signed into carnival.com ... I booked thru a ta so maybe they only email if you book direct.

Thanks for the info! We booked direct with Carnival and have already received a couple of emails about our booking so hopefully a reasonable upgrade offer will be in our future.

I use a ta and both of my offers were through email but it seems like most right now are showing in the planner section of the booking on the Carnival site.

I check the confirmation off and on and it was posted there by Carnival, there was no way I was going to let an offer like that go away.  I jumped on it immediately and just like that we had a Grand Suite.  I always check my reservations on all the ships once a week to see if anything appears different.  Once a week I check amenities to see any changes. 

The other day when I checked one of our Royal Caribbean reservations I saw the Deluxe Beverage Package went from $72.00 a day down to $57.00, I thought since the cruise is in Jan I would just keep checking.  We now purchased it for $43.00 a day, one of the best prices we ever got. 

Just once a week go into your booked cruises and see if anything has changed, even check the pricing, last year saved $700.00 on one of our cruises.

Thanks for that advice.  I have never thought about checking my reservations. I do keep an eye on pricing and have need able to score a couple of price cuts on some of our cruises with the best one so far being $500 off our cruise to the Western Mediterranean on NCL Epic for next year. I will definitely be checking our reservations from now on. Had no idea to do that.

DH and I are booked on a Level 6 interior on the Horizon on 8/22.  You've all given me such hope! 

 

I noticed that Conde Nast ran an article about modifications to cruise lines, and moving all patrons out of interior rooms was on their list.   This was more of a "proposed" or "likely" list than a sure thing, but I expect they have insiders in their ears.

yes, my sons family and my husband and I both got upgrades from ov to balconies, for freedom aug 1 sailing. we took it, as my husband loves the balcony. this will be the grandsons first cruise.

I just received our 2nd all-time upgrade offer to move from an inside to ocean-view cabin for $426! No way! I'll use that money elsewhere on the ship or for an excursion.

Actually some ships are sailing.  Breeze, Elation, Dram, Freedom, Horizon, Magic, Sensation and Vista will start sailing August 1st according to the above.

I am in the same boat with three cruises booked using casino deals. If they get canceled I am left with a useless FCC or I guess I can use it for a deposit on a regular cruise. I already had to move my May canceled cruise to Jan but it wasn't booked as a casino deal.

I reported the same thing on the forum when the list was posted.  Just like you, I misread it.  Some are only canceled thru July.  I was uber-flamed and told I was illiterate....although I admitted that I made an error.

It's ambiguous unless you read each line about each ship.
