No private tours due to COVID?

If anything, you might see the O tour prices go up if for no other reason than the need to reduce group sizes as part of their Covid plan. Or, if they leave the prices as is, you'd be getting a smaller group experience at no additional cost.

That said, and with the understanding that private group tours may usually cost less than the ship tour's, note that there is a way to reduce that ship cost.

Firstly, taking the most expensive of the available O Life tours (e.g., <$200 pp and not OE, OS, etc) effectively doubles the value of your O Life perk. And, since your O Life tour number can be counted against the minimum YWYW program requirement on your cruise, you can then purchase enough other non-O Life tours to hit the YWYW minimum and get a 25% discount on them.

We often do this (and may still do select private tours for some ports) and will definitely continue the practice at least as long as Covid prevention remains "job 1."

We are new to Oceania. Could you please explain "O life tour number can be counted against the minimum YWYW program"    and while we understand your first statement about "most expensive of the available O Life tours doubling the perk, we are confused about the what the "YWYW program" is and how it works.    Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.  Thank you

If cruising insists that you must book excursions like MSC to exit the ship in ports, expect those excursions to be expensive.  Oceania is not a charity. They provide a service and want to make money. If excursion groups are smaller, excursion prices should be higher. If you think that excursion prices were high, wait until you see prices when they sail again.  I would expect higher fees.  Nobody is forcing you to sail or book an excursion. You can stay on the ship. You can stay home. Supply and demand will keep prices in check.  If there is increased demand, increased prices can work. If demand is low, raising prices could kill them. Businesses near me that have reopened have increased prices due to increased costs caused by the pandemic. Some are justified. Some are just greedy.  One salon near me doubled all fees and added ppe charges. Within 2 weeks of opening, they were out of business.  People wanted haircuts, etc. however, they weren’t willing to be ripped off.
