Where was I?

Recommended Posts

No, not there.

Mountain range and electorate have same name. Not really something to cry about - more something to cry with.

Town had 3000 population at its peak, now 96 and in effect privately owned.

Will take either town or mountain range/ electorate

Poatina

yes  - Hallelujah! the road to Poatina!

Poatina once a thriving hydro electric town, population 3000 - in 1995 most of the town was bought by Fusion Australia, a National Christian youth and community organisation devoted to helping homeless and unemployed youth. Population now 96

and the mountains are the Western Tiers mountain range

sorry, didn't think it would be so hard - if  I get another turn I will post photo of Sydney Opera House 🤣

My brother in law's family lived at Gowrie Park, another of the Hydro Electric Commission villages. Ex residents have a FB page and reading through it I saw a number of families also had lived at Poatina. As each part of the hydro scheme was completed, the construction workers and their families moved on to the next site where another village was constructed.

Unfortunately your 'tears' hint didn't help when looking at google as the range is referred to as the Great Western Mountains - the official name is Great Western Tiers.
