The police car that was torched this week was less than 1-mile from the Marrtiott Waterfront Hotel. This act of violence happened during the day light. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Dexter+Avenue+North+%26+John+Street,+Seattle,+WA/Seattle+Marriott+Waterfront,+Alaskan+Way,+Seattle,+WA/@47.615286,-122.3573855,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x549015485acb0619:0x4ee1373f6b951f9d!2m2!1d-122.342413!2d47.6197243!1m5!1m1!1s0x5490155299c208e9:0xb122e8d8133186ea!2m2!1d-122.3472237!2d47.6108146!3e0 Edited October 18, 2020 by Sam.Seattle
bigbenboys Posted October 18, 2020 #52 Share Posted October 18, 2020 I think the Marriott Waterfront would be nice. It is near pier 66 which is a cruise terminal for smaller cruise ships. Anthony's at pier 66 is nice. Cutters Crabhouse is nice also (near Pike Place Market). There will be waterfront construction south of where your staying. https://waterfrontseattle.org/construction/construction-overview

The Ovation of the Seas is scheduled to use both Pier 66 and Pier 91, AKA Bell Harbor and Smith Cove. Also, the waterfront park is closed due to construction. The Great Wheel and Pier 57 are closed due to adjoining collapse during construction. https://waterfrontseattle.org/construction/live-progress Homeless tents on Seattle waterfront. He did not say anything at all about mammoth ships, he simply noted it is home for smaller cruise ships, of which Crystal and Seabourn are and both use Pier
Blackduck59 Posted October 18, 2020 #55 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Holy, while I think that a proper amount of caution is appropriate, I can't believe people from the greater Seattle area are going so far out of their way to put their hometown down. As to the OP I said earlier and will say again (having been on the Eclipse cruise out of Vancouver) that I felt that was the better option. There are homeless situations everywhere including Vancouver and my hometown of Victoria. I'm not sure why the disheartening photos and down talk. We have a small port facility but we have had Norwegian Bliss here (It's ugly). Pick your cruise as it suits your needs.
