Drink package/bottomless bubbles from Galveston

I know that the drink package does not start until the following morning when leaving Galveston but What about the bottomless bubbles? Can they be started as you board the ship?

The Bubbles package did many years ago when we sailed from Galveston.

I think the only reason that Cheers doesn't start right away from Galveston, is because of certain Texas laws regulating alcohol sales.

Correct, Carnival doesn't want to pay the tax on the alcohol so they can do unlimited in Texas waters.

Didn't know that was the case from Galveston. We are considering a Vista cruise next year. I can understand while in Texas waters, but does it go into effect once in international waters or is it strictly "the next day"?

strictly the next day. They also have limited drink selection for the first few hours, only selling alcohol that is purchased in Texas for that time. Any alcohol purchased on board that is taken off the ship by passengers is subject to Texas taxes, even if you are going straight to the airport and out of the state.

Texas is pretty strict on the taxation.  You'll see a limited amount of bottles at each bar and each will have a sticker on it identifying it for tax on consumption.  Once into international waters all of those bottles get put away and the regular bottles come out.  Also why your drinks are a bit more expensive before you sail away.

One lawmaker just proposed they lax the liquor laws a bit by making it legal to sale alcohol on Sundays (right now liquor stores are all closed on Sunday). The big chains want it, but some of the smaller stores like having 1 day a week off.

When you get free drinks in casino you have to pay the tax in state waters. Until they are out of the state limited normal mid night

I thought there was a consensus that people got credited back what they bought the next day ... like it basically was moved over to their unlimited package ??? Then again maybe that was Royal Caribbean or possibly from a different state that also has restrictions ?

What time does "the next day" actually begin?  We are on the Vista out of Galveston in 2022.

Found it.  The Next Day starts at 6am.
