Leaving Celebrity suite class for awhile to try Regent

We’ve been on Celebrity and also Silversea, Seabourn, and Crystal. Celebrity definitely has more going on, during the day and in the evening. But—the other ships had shows that’s were at least good, a DJ and dancing in a lounge, and plenty of chances for conversation in a quieter lounge. The food and service are excellent throughout Silversea and the others. Yes, it comes at a price, but all-in vs. a Celebrity suite it’s quite close if you just compare dollars.

The food is fantastic. Speciality restaurants are included in the fare, but the main dining room, Compass Rose is so good I did not need to go to the French restaurant or other specialities.
Luminae is good and we still we occasionally cruise in a suite on Celebrity.

But it is so nice to have business air fare, excursions, gratuities, drinks and now laundry all included.

Thanks for the information!

I generally cruise solo, mostly in a Sky Suite and, occasionally, in Aqua. With Celebrity going with AI, and raising prices, I priced an 11-night Caribbean cruise on Silversea. The solo rate was 125%, not the 200% that Celebrity charges. I have a Superior suite (similar in size to a Sky Suite) for significantly less $$ than seven nights in a Sky Suite on ~X~. It includes all the perks I would get on Celebrity, only one restaurant has an additional cost. Yes, it is a quieter, smaller ship, but there are numerous advantages, such as an enforced dress code after 6 PM, several venues for cocktails, with or without some form of musical entertainment, alcoholic beverages included in your suite (minibar) and, from what I can glean from several posts on the SS board, no extra tipping is expected, and only done on rare occasions.

Good question! Guess it depends on line and ship, but I love the less crowded feeling of my choice. Embarkation and debarkation are really quick. I love the cabin size of even the OV cabins which are larger than Sky Suites on Celebrity. Food is much better and served at the proper temperature as there are fewer people to serve. Veal replaces chicken on the menu. There are often 2  shows per night so it most certainly is not boring. There is a full movie theater and popcorn is served. Fewer shops for my DW to shop and that's a positive. Much more public space! Some, but not all reasons I prefer my favorite smaller ship

Wow, those all sound like great reasons!  I particularly liked your comment about fewer shops 😁
