April 2nd CDC Technical Guidance

Just wanted to post an observation made this morning.  I went out to pick up some bagels and noticed that our local traffic had returned to normal (pre COVID).  When I got to Panera I noticed that there was a normal crowd inside having their coffee, pasties, etc.  At the shopping center the parking lot seemed to have a normal amount of cars with folks moving in and out of the stores.  So here is my point.  The People have decided to return to a relatively normal life despite the dictates of the CDC and some other government agencies.  I think the People have spoken and are willing to live their lives with COVID a constant threat just like we live our lives during a flu epidemic.  The COVID death rate in the USA continues to fall about 20% week over week and it down to a level not uncommon during a bad flu epidemic.  Normally we expect the CDC (and other health agencies) to lead us through epidemics.  But now, it seems like the People are leading the CDC through the latter stages of this Pandemic.

it is the same with cruises.  The People are ready to return to ships and understand that there will need to be some compromise/mitigation to deal with the COVID risk.  I think the People understand that there is no "zero risk" with COVID and are willing to accept the risk (this is called personal responsibility).  Perhaps it is time for the CDC (and some other agencies) to catch-up to the People.  In our society the People rule and the government follows the dictates of the People.
