Amazing how some people on here are actually blaming the CDC .. and not the virus itself for this disruption.

The virus is real - the reaction is where we can argue points.

I see ships that want to sail and the cdc stopping them. There is no gun pointed to anyone's head telling them to book a cruise or take a cruise. Anyone who goes on a ship must understand that there are risks from "the virus", but even with cruise lines trying to formulate a plan and make their billion dollar ships make some money, they need a willing partner. The CDC seems to be hell bent on making sure there are no cruises until the numbers show 00000000. This is unfair to everyone except the people who will be afraid of the boogy man and covid until the day the die.

We have decided that RC are totally out of line waiting til final payment to cancel cruises so never going to give hem a penny from us ever again.  People could use that money to go on a domestic trip, but can't because RC have it locked up.  Very bad treatment of their customers.

I agree with you but they needs something to keep money flowing in - as this drags out most people will think exactly what you are saying is correct and stop booking and paying. That's when the game is over in many ways!

Agree with it or not, this has become pretty standard practice in the industry.  If you have an issue with this policy, it is likely you will never cruise again.

Most cruise lines are cancelling before final payment.  RC seem to have a policy to wait til final payment before cancelling.

“MOST”? Amongst main stream lines?

I don’t think so, the mainstream players are all cancelling itineraries within a week or so of one another (with a couple exceptions)

Please name them - I am in the market to book a cruise with a "most cruise line"!

I have been burned by the ones that are not doing this - Royal/Norwegian and Carnival -

Thanks in advance for your extensive research...

That's not correct, MSC isn't canceling before final payment.

Getting even more disgruntled waiting for a refund...or be patient and have a good time celebrating the return to cruising.

It's family policy here.  Any company that does you wrong never gets another penny off you.  In this case it is RC who have messed us around.  So in future we will be cruising just not with RC.  It's probably time to try out some of the others anyway.   Just added up what we spent with RC over the years.  It's well over €40k and that's just on fares.   Probably time to give another cruise line a try at this point.
