clairol Posted May 28, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2021 (edited) We have a guaranteed PH on Riviera's first cruise since "before times". I am assuming (hoping, praying, making sacrificial offerings to the cruise gods) that means the same as it did during pre-pandemic/normal operations... and we will in fact have a place to sleep onboard even with "controlled guest capacity" and everything is currently waitlisted. Anyone - by any chance - have any intel on this? Or perhaps a reliable crystal ball? Or at the very least a reassuring (even if unsubstantiated) opinion? 🤞 Edited May 28, 2021 by clairol
Rare pinotlover Posted May 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2021 I believe if you’re guaranteed, you’re guaranteed. Don’t get caught up in the preciseness of numbers. If FDR says the ships will sail at 60% capacity, adding another couple on to fill a guarantee isn’t a big move off 60%. Additionally, a lot of people back out come payment day. That cabin may well become available then. You’ll be on the ship with at least the cabin you were guaranteed, if she sails.
jwindham Posted May 28, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2021 A couple of years ago when we did a PH guarantee the ship showed full about 3 months out and we did not get our cabin assignment until 5 days before boarding the ship. And we got a super location so I think you will be fine. Enjoy your cruise. Julia

clairol Posted May 29, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted May 29, 2021 Thanks so much everyone! I feel reassured, comforted and might even book our flights today. I really should just focus on being deliriously happy (and lucky) that our cruise is on and travel adventures once again await. I just need to shake the fear that there is another shoe out there waiting to drop... Thanks again!
Rare Hlitner Posted May 29, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 29, 2021 I would settle for a "guarantee" that a booked cruise will even happen :(. So far, we have had 5 cruises (totaling over 120 days) cancelled because of COVID! Argh. At this point they could put me in "steerage" and we would not complain as long as the cruise sailed. I had the Sirena cruise Dec. 12 booked for only 1 week before it was cancelled. Until you see the Riviera start moving on schedule there is no guarantee your cruise will happen. There is a great web site to see where any cruise ship in the world is currently located, docked or moving, cruisemapper.com. Check in with it to see what Riviera is up to.
