Rare YoPhilly Posted June 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2021 I've been searching for info on O's policy/procedure for disembarking the day before a cruise ends. Specifically, our cruise ends in Barcelona but I'm thinking about disembarking the previous day in Marseille. Are there any restrictions or policies I need to know? Thanks. sitraveler Posted June 24, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2021 No problem. Just let O know before you board.

Perhaps not that easy in the Covid environment at the time of OP’s cruise. And the restrictions on disembarking, quarantine, etc may have more to do with local government than with Oceania. Even with O’s OK, I’d have a “plan B” if an “approved” Marseille disembark cannot happen.

I think in the past you had to request early disembarkation in writing so they can make sure their are immigration/customs officials at the port Get permission in writing JMO

This TA cruise ends in April of 2022; hopefully, things are fairly well stabilized by then.

Thanks. P.S. Have you ever done that, i.e., disembarked early?

Condocat Posted June 24, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2021 We disembarked early once, it was no problem. Just tell your TA in advance and the details will be arranged with O and noted on your itinerary. Confirm details when you board. Of course this was "pre-Covid days".
Rare ORV Posted June 24, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 24, 2021 I have also, but it was the same port as the ship was scheduled for an overnight at the disembarkation port.

Condocat has the procedure exactly right, as we can attest from having done so in pre-Covid days. Those days are gone, but the procedure will be the same and will take into consideration not only whether O has a problem with early disembarkation but also whether local officials will allow it. That part could be problematic, depending upon the port. Edited June 24, 2021 by DrHemlock

We have also done the same in Tahiti. Got our approval prior to the cruise. We stayed on-board for dinner the evening of our disembarkation, after which our butler escorted us off the Marina with our luggage to a waiting cab to take us to the airport for our flight back to LAX. This way we avoided the need for a hotel day pass, then the loonnnggg wait at the airport the next day. We had made our own travel arrangements - air - once we received O's approval. First world problem, I know, and I feel exceptionally privileged to be planning weeks-long travel when there are still so many people suffering. I think I may just reconsider and plan for the sure thing - disembark as scheduled. I’ll reach out to O and see what they say.
Rare YoPhilly Posted June 25, 2021 Author #13 Share Posted June 25, 2021 Bottom line: I think at this particular moment in time, it's too risky to go off-script - not knowing if ports will have to be substituted/eliminated, etc. Who knows what March/April will bring. I'll stick to the script and disembark as scheduled. But again, thank you for your input.
