Question About Gift Card Use

I know there was a thread about gift cards when we were able to buy with the bonus card but I cannot find it.

I did buy the $500 gift card and received the $50 one free.

My question is if I put it on my cruise now which is paid in full would any spa services I booked now come out of that or would have to pay for them now?

a) (and you may have to call Princess to do it), book a spa service and use the gift card to pay towards it and provide another way to pay the rest.

b) Call Princess and have the gift card pay for $50 OBC which you can use during the cruise.

I am sorry I didn;t explain better I meant the $550

I only mentioned the bonus card because it has an expiration date it must be used by.

 

You should be able to also use money from the $500 gift card. I assume (but do not know for sure) that you can use some of its value and keep the remainder on the card for future use.

I never said the bonus card was expiring. I am trying to buy with the $500 gift card and the $50 bonus card total of $550 spa items. I am also trying to not call Princess and be on old for hours to find out the answer.

Ok.  I saw a clarification later about the total $550.  The bonus cards do have an expiry date so folks need to be sure and use them before then.  The base gift cards never expire.  

 

If you read the T&C here:  https://www.princess.com/learn/cruise-gifts-celebrations/overview/gift-cards/ , you will find that GC's can only be used to pay for things on board the ship or to pay a cruise fare balance (your booking). 

 

Therefore, spa services booked in advance have to be paid by credit card - like other on board items offered in Cruise Personalizer. 

 

IMO, it's a wash as you could apply GC's to your booking balance and owe $550 less for cost of cruise.  Then, pay for the extra spa services $550.  Not really different than if you could use the GC's to pay for spa services and owe $550 more on the fare balance.

Thank you but that is the company Princess is using to sell and issue the cards Buy a Tab. The company is in Canada and the worker bees that answer the phone are as they say "off shore".
