Vemnox Posted August 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2021 Hey all, I'm considering an October cruise on the Horizon for my family which includes 2 unvaxxed children (10 & 6) who are not eligible. I called Carnival this afternoon and "Jeff" told me (and I repeated back to him so I was sure) that "absolutely no guests who are not vaccinated will be allowed on Carnival ships through October 31st." He confirmed this included children. Was he wrong? I thought Carnival's policy was Under 12 was exempt (but possibly still subject to the 5% max)? Thanks in advance! Bevv Posted August 29, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2021 Per the Carnival website, it is still possible to cruise without being vaccinated. https://www.carnival.com/Legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols?icid=advisory_cruisehealth_072821
firefly333 Posted August 29, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2021 And pvp agents all passed around a memo who cant count 3 days before and posted it as garbage. I called today to get a rate drop and once again before I could say boo they transferred me to resolutions because they couldnt find the rate I saw. No time to ask what rate it was. Twice this has happened. I dont believe they have anything but rumors they go by. Take it with a grain of salt. I've decided they have a quota and no time to do a good job.

Your children will only be allowed off the ship if they are on a "bubble tour"... and those are limited. They have the term bubble term in the excursion description. "Unvaccinated guests cannot go ashore in the ports of call on their own. Guests may only debark in the ports of call if booked on a Carnival-sponsored bubble tour. " Insurance is optional for under 12 "Unvaccinated guests sailing on a ship departing from Florida or Texas must show proof of travel insurance coverage during check-in. This requirement is currently being waived for children under 12 who are ineligible for a vaccine. However, parents are advised that purchasing travel insurance for their children is strongly recommended. "

Shore Visits and Excursions Unvaccinated guests cannot go ashore in the ports of call on their own. Guests may only debark in the ports of call if booked on a Carnival-sponsored bubble tour. Carnival-approved bubble tours are excursions that operate in a controlled environment. Guests will be escorted from the ship to their excursion and back to the ship immediately upon return from the shore excursion. No unscheduled stops are permitted (i.e., gift shops, bars, restaurants, etc.). In the event you choose not to purchase a bubble tour, bubble tours are sold out, or cancelled due to weather, unvaccinated guests will have to remain on board. Guests participating in a bubble tour, regardless of vaccination status, must follow all tour protocols and local guidance regarding testing/screening, mask wearing, physical distancing, etc. We cannot guarantee that additional restrictions will not be imposed by local authorities in the destinations we visit. For example, based on our agreement with San Juan, unvaccinated guests will have to remain on board during our visit there. Guests who do not comply with the controlled environment of a bubble tour will be removed from the tour. If your cruise visits a private port of call, such as Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays, unvaccinated guests may go ashore on their own or purchase any of our tours. Travel Insurance Requirement — Florida and Texas Based Ships Unvaccinated guests sailing on a ship departing from Florida or Texas must show proof of travel insurance coverage during check-in. (See section below for full details on travel insurance requirements.)

" Out of date as now no unvaccinated anyone is allowed age 12 and older, so this there is no insurance requirement for these folks who now cant cruise. I've already read of a child age 11, turns 12 during the cruise, now cant cruise. No unvaccinated are currently allowed.

False. But you need a medical reason for why you can't be vaccinated and obtain an exemption. Doctor’s Note — Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Maryland Based Ships If you received a vaccination exemption for medical reasons, a letter from a medical provider stating the guest cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons must be presented at check-in.

We been thru this. Carnival isnt going to grant some unvaccinated passenger a exemption, with or without a doctors note. If they have medical reasons they cannot be vaccinated carnival isnt sticking out its nose to grant a exemption. Why would carnival risk someone medically comlromised? I'm talking reality not well carnival could allow it. Just because someone can get their doctor to sign .. and you think carnival is fine with someone with medical issues. .. When you find that passenger let us know.

BroadwayGirl Posted August 29, 2021 #16 Share Posted August 29, 2021 You will need to apply for the exemptions for the kids. Exemptions have been open for awhile for October cruises. Could be first come first served…no ones sure. No guarantee you will be able to get one or both this late in the game. Your cruise must be paid off to even apply (and has to anyway bc you’re past final payment) for an exemption so they will have your money and you may not know until up to a few days before the cruise if you are granted the exemption and can sail. Just some things to think about before you jump in on this.
K_e_short Posted August 29, 2021 #17 Share Posted August 29, 2021 Remember the vaccination rules for adults are only for Florida/Texas/Lousiana. You can still get an exemption for L.A. Consequently, effective with embarkations on or after August 28 from all U.S. Atlantic and Gulf home ports, vaccine exemptions will be limited to children under 12, and those teenagers and adults with a medical condition that does not allow them to be vaccinated

If you think about it, that would not fulfill the requirements of the Bahamas if that port was after the child's birthday - hence no exemption.

Granted i havent called alot recently but when i was on the phone the other day with someone from Fun Shops, i asked a couple of questions and then gave up and realized that she either has no idea what I'm trying to ask, or she has no clue what shes talking about. I understand many of these people are working from home and alot of these people are new but i really hope this is something that improves sooner rather than later.
