Salsa cruise nightmare continues.....

OK, this mess continues.....I may have finally gotten it fixed after approximately 2.5 hours on the phone.

Call 1.....Called to cancel, agent understood the Salsa cruise mess, then said you will be assessed cancellations fees.  I nicely but politely told her that was not going to happen. I explained again about the Salsa cruise and MSC's offer " to cancel and get a full refund". She said she needed to call the fee waiver dept, put me on hold then she came back and said all is taken are and the fees are waived. I asked what the refund would be and her answer matched my records of what I had paid.  Good so far....

A few minutes later I received the cancellation notice.  Seemed ok until I realized that I WAS being charged cancellation fees of almost $ 1500.00. Definitely NOT going to happen!!

Call 2.....Called MSC again.  Explained the circumstances again.  Fortunately I got a very good agent.  Although it took way over an hour to fix, and many times of being put on hold she was successful (hopefully) in getting the matter resolved.  Now I wait for the refund.....I do have an MSC resolutions number given to me by the agent that explains all the problems, and the solution(again hopefully).

Moral of the story....if you had a reservation on another sailing and transferred it to this 10/24 cruise and cancelled it after being screwed over....make sure you read the cancellation email closely.  Otherwise you may also find them trying to charge you the cancellation penalty

So...it seems like it is resolved. So the nightmare *isn't* continuing?

Or is there some part we are missing...

No that is not correct.  Until I actually get the entire refund (provided do as I stated above), it is a continuing nightmare.

Same thing happened to me.  I called back and they apologized that their systems "suck" and I got an automated cancellation notice with the fees.  They said it was passed up the chain and I would not be charged any fees.

About a week later I got another of those automated booking communications and it did indeed show a full refund.

@LadySpoiltGlad you got it resolved eventually.  I was booked on this same cruise and cancelled.  No way was I interested in a Salsa Charter even with all the "benefits".

Small doses of Salsa (I like to dance) absolutely.  24/7 no way!

I had a very good agent when I called who explained the cancellation fees were automatic but would be removed, which they were.  Like you though, now on to wait for the refund.  Which seems to take forever!

I really debated on cancelling it.  Had MSC  left me in my YC Deluxe Grand Suite 16034 I may have stayed on it as it was a B2B in the same room.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you all get the entire refund

Trying to keep this straight…

So @LadySpoilt you received an email from MSC canceling this cruise but

@mscdivina2016 you have not received a cancellation email?

Styles,

No, not exactly, this morning I myself called and cancelled the 10/24 cruise, then received the cancellation email notification from MSC.

Oh okay.

So how did MSC offer for you guys to cancel with a 100% refund with no cancellation fees?

No,

I have received nothing, not even a phone call. And we have less than a month to go.

If they do not contact me prior, I will have no choice but to show up at the pier.

I am not and will not cancel.  It will be interesting how they are going to escort me to Yacht club.

It was in an email that they sent the 3/4 day cruisers and someone copied it on here.  They said that due to the Salsa organization chartering the cruise, the regular people (not salsa group cruisers) had 3 options.  One of the options was to have the entire fare refunded.

LOL, oh, they'll escort you somewhere alright 🙂

Seriously, this is one of the most interesting sagas I've read on cruisecritic. I can't wait to see how this ends up.

If you get a cabin in the YC, you *have* to tell me your next sailing...I need to be on it so you can give me all of the details you can't post here.

Good luck!

Question is where?

They sent me the tickets.

We are trying to question them and  now Salsa. No one will respond yet but it's only been a few days.

There is no doubt that I have YC. Their tickets validate that.

You can't move me down with out a refund of excess fare. A low deck lousy location cabin for the cost of a YC grand suite?

Yes if I cancel I will be assessed a cancellation fee.

I did not get a notice .

Every one may think this gets hashed out at the pier is funny, but how else does it play out at this time.

I have called 3 times and it's been 12 days since first call with no return call.

We assume that the YC tent will be the place where it all plays out. I doubt I will step on board.

I have not been notified of anything. Those people acknowledged they saw 3&4 night email and called on Thier own.

You are purposefully being obstinate 🙂

Did you try to call to see if you would get those penalties?

Rhetorical Q...I know the answer is "no" because you didn't get a cancel letter...

You need to livestream your embarkation process...

If he did that it would screw up any chance of his getting another YC Grand PoohBah suite for a super cheap pricing error cost.  🤣🤣

Sort of yes.

I actually have another one at the same price in March.

But that's the general idea
