zzdoug Posted October 13, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2021 If it's raining on a day at sea, I imagine not many people will be on the top decks. Will the pools and water slides be open if there is no lightning? Does the staff plan any special indoor activities that might not otherwise occur if it weren't raining? pogoism9 Posted October 13, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2021 Depends on the ship I guess. I know on the Spirit class they can close the roof over one of the pools and it stays pretty busy in there (and becomes a sauna!) 1
zzdoug Posted October 13, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted October 13, 2021 We will be on the Vista if anyone has any insights. Thanks.
mondello Posted October 13, 2021 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2021 Vista has an IMAX. Maybe go play bingo or trivia. Go eat and/or have a drink. Buy a bucket of beer and go dancing in the rain. Try your luck in the casino. I doubt they're planning around the weather. Just hope it's a passing shower and not an all day rain. I've been on around 10 cruises and don't really remember rain being a problem. It rained briefly at Nachi Cocum in Cozumel once. I remember people used to post a lot saying rain was forecast for their cruise. Showers are forecast almost every afternoon half the time. 1
Schoifmom Posted October 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2021 If it rains, it rains. As long as there is no lightening in the area, outdoor activities (such as the pool and waterslides) will remain open. If the crew deems it to be unsafe, they will close them down. If there is a deck party planned, it will likely be moved indoors, usually to the atrium. I can almost guarantee it will rain at some point during your cruise! You are going to see showers in the forecast almost every afternoon, usually. The rains normally (I did say normally) won't last long unless you are getting blow back from a hurricane.
evandbob Posted October 13, 2021 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2021 From the OP's headline, I thought this might be a comment about the Grateful Dead/Bob Weir tune "Looks Like Rain". Oh well...... 1

We were on Magic a couple of weeks ago and had one day of rain, pools were open but the water slides were closed, I assume because of a slipping hazard getting up the ladders.

Was on the Magic last week. Super soaked cruise. Never had such bad weather 😞. Few hours a day we would get sun but mornings and night time was super strong storms. However the seas seemed almost flat clam when it rained. I was swamped in by a storm up on the serenity deck at 10am. Not a bad place to take cover. So much water on The deck someone’s shoes floated by lol. There is cover almost everywhere outside. As far as activities we were loving the inside bars. We saw lots of people with there own games and cards too.

That reminds me when people always use to post get your free deck of cards at Guest Services and I would always never remember to get any.
gtalum Posted October 16, 2021 #12 Share Posted October 16, 2021 Keep in mind in the Caribbean it almost always shows a good rain chance in the forecast. No big deal.
