ljandgb Posted October 27, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2021 A little more information would be helpful, but in general, anything in the 101 post code district is good as far as tourist activities go.
Nitemare Posted October 28, 2021 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2021 I agree with the above. Budget usually plays a role in choosing lodging. There are all levels of options in the city
roupa Posted October 29, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2021 Just looking for recommendations that may be convenient to cruise port and not necessarily 5 star or bare-to-the bones. A popular place that Gray line tours may do a pick-up as well.
Nitemare Posted October 30, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2021 You'll be within a short walk of tour pickup anywhere in the 101 post code. You can easily search by price on any search engine. I still don't know what your budget is, so a place I know someone stayed at successfully for $100/night might not fit your needs. How about listing price? Not sure what "A Popular Place" means, either, and how that fits into the formula?
Liz Masterson Posted November 8, 2021 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2021 Just back from 4 weeks in Reykjavik. We split the stay between 2 Hilton properties and enjoyed them both. The Reykjavik Konsulate, a Hilton Curio brand and the Canopy Hilton. We enjoyed them both!
Heartgrove Posted November 15, 2021 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2021 The cruise port is rather remote and in an industrial area. We stayed at the Skuggi Hotel by Keahotels which was then a short cab ride (7 minutes or so) to where the ships dock. Using the Hallgrimskirkja (the landmark church) for reference, it is an 8 minute walk and east of the City Center on Hverhisgate. We spent a wonderful afternoon on our arrival day walking the City Center area. One thing to know is that the airport bus does not enter the City Center. It only travels to an outlying bus terminal where you then transfer to a mini-bus. This then stops at designated stops in the City Center. Some streets are closed to vehicle traffic so choose a hotel that is accessible to avoid long wals with your luggage. We chose the Skuggi for the convenience for being around the corner from Bus Stop #9, and being walkable into the tourist area. We sailed on a week-long circumnavigation cruise this past Summer, and then spent a week in the Westfjords and Snaefellsnes Peninsula by rental car. Rare ontheweb Posted November 16, 2021 #8 Share Posted November 16, 2021 (edited) Are you flying in using IcelandAir? They also own hotels, and offer deals for flight and hotel when booked together (or at least they used to.) This was the one we stayed at when we went to Reykjavik. Icelandair Hotel Reykjavík Natura (google.com) One day when we got back late from an afternoon tour and needed to get going soon to make it to our Northern Lights Tour, they were very good at getting us dinner in their restaurant quickly. They were also very helpful at recommending local attractions. I don't have any idea how far it is from the cruise port, but it was very convenient to the city and the bus terminals.
