Hotels in Sydney CBD

Recommended Posts

Hi , I am needing a help with hotels in Sydney CBD.

I am cruising from Auckland to Sydney on the Majestic Princess in Oct 2022 .

Staying in Sydney for 5 days .

Returning to Auckland on the Sapphire Princess .

Have been looking at the following hotels.

Veriu --- Great Southern ---Park Regis ,also out of the CBD Lurline at Randwick .

Has anyone stayed at any of these hotels lately with any negative or positive comments about them ?

I have never stayed in Sydney before & need some help .

Thank you in advance . Cheers Taffy .

Depends on your price range but have a look at booking.com and most times they come with free cancellations in case the price drops and you can cancel out and rebook…..we stay in Sydney quite a bit and Meriton Apartments have some good places and they have quite a few in Sydney and the suburbs and they all have washing machines so you can do a wash before your cruise

Thank you for your reply .

Just to add , I am a single male  pensioner.

Looking to spend around $ 200 per night .

Looked at booking.com . that is where I got the hotels from .

Looked at the reviews , but they seem to contradict each other .

Cheers

The View, Sydney.

Stayed there a couple of nights pre cruise a couple of years back.

Great hotel with magnificent harbour views..

Walking distance down to the Harbour for ferries, restaurants ect ect

Great brekkie and they will drive you to the cruise terminal on morning of your cruise.

Highly recommended at reasonable price .

Ps. Tip, if you select this hotel pick a room up high.👍

I can give you some feedback on the great southern.

It’s ok nothing special,a pub about what you get for $120 a night in Sydney .

If your single male it should suit you.
‘There’s plenty of cheap food in the area that caters for the University.

Have a look at the Russell in the rocks.

I haven't stayed at the above hotels but when I want a good quality cheap hotel right near cental station I stay at Valentine on George. It's always clean and very comfortable.

There used to be a free bus that would do a loop around the CBD that you can catch down town but I found taking the train from Central easy enough to do and rail/ferry day passes come in handy especially for a trip to Manly or Watson's Bay on the ferry if you need to give your legs a rest.

Congratulations on finding (working out) a nice holiday for yourself. A four day cruise, than 5 days in Sydney followed by a 4 day return cruise. Sounds Fantastic. A pity for me I couldn't do it the other way starting in Sydney.

When in Sydney to do a cruise we always stay at the Great Southern in George St. Its clean and comfortable and reasonably priced plus the pub grub is good value. The last time we stayed there was in October 2019 when we did our 14 night Fiji cruise on the Majestic which incidentally was probably our last cruise (sigh)

Stretch your budget to $250 a night and stay at the Marriott, a stones throw from International Cruise Terminal, Circular Quay. Great hotel.  Last stayed there mid 2019, pre Noordam to Honolulu.

Don't eat at the Marriott, way to pricey like $50 for brekkie, few minutes walk to City Extra opposite the ferry terminals, good food and fairly priced,  was open 24/7.  I had the mixed grill, lol...
