OBC for shareholders of Carnival

I booked a cruise on Carnival Magic for my birthday leaving November 28th and my birthday on the 29th.  I was told I don't get obc because it was discounted cruise.  I asked for proof in writing that I was never supplied that.  I asked a couple times.  I even bought extra Carnival stock still nothing.  I told them my last cruise on Carnival Breeze was cancelled due to Covid.  Not very nice if they want passengers to return.  Anyone else have issues.

This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or
anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges
and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations must be made by February 28, 2022.

Buying extra shares is irrevevant. Discounted is an issue as basically no one pays the book price. How discounted was your cruise? There are certain categories of discounted cruises that have always been denied.

That has been the wording forever, yet no one has ever seen the shareholder OBC not applied to gratuities. Also you could argue that basically no one pays the full price. In the past only those categories specifically mentioned have been denied. If it is now denied for any sort of discount, the shareholder OBC credit has effectively ceased to exist. But there are people on these boards writing that though it has taken quite a bit of time, it has been granted. So, either they are being very inconsistent in granting it or it really has not changed to any discounted cruise.

We have never been denied, including our post pandemic cruise this past August which was highly discounted.

From what I have been reading, they are finally starting to enforce their own policy that has always been in place.....just not enforced.

We have one planned in December that is also highly discounted.  I'm going to go ahead and submit my request for the OBC but I'm not counting on it.

Could be an enforcement of (Cunard quote)

“This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer.”

Add to this list the Employee’s “Friends and Family Discount” which my BIL discovered.  Also “Bucket Shop” discount sellers.

It appears if it’s not originally sold as a recognised Saver, Early Saver or Cunard Fare then it’s nada.

This is pretty confusing.  I just on the other Shareholder OBC thread that mine was approved yesterday - and they also added OBC to another cruise I have next year that I hadn't asked for yet.  My cruise in 3 weeks wasn't a special offer cruise, but the other one in April was a discount/special offer cruise.

Really makes no sense with the information given in these threads. I've also noticed a couple different methods/addresses that folks submitted to and wonder if that makes any difference.

Checking this out on FB, there are some folks reporting they were approved for OBC but then it was rescinded while they were on board!

This can occur if a pax receives confirmation of OBC, then they sell their shares prior to boarding. Cunard do check actual holdings.  It’s a shareholder benefit.

I can't validate that, it sounded like they still held the stock as they also mentioned making plans to sell it once it was back over $30...

Like someone else said, really poopy of them to give it and take it away. It does seem like more recent requests have been declined. I guess I would feel better if the denials are more uniform or if they announced they are changing their policies on the shareholder benefit (temporarily or permanently, couldn't blame them)

While I agree the reduced-rate verbiage has always been there, it is too broad of a term as I always took it to mean casino offers where the cruise is practically free. Otherwise you are always booking some kind of reduced rate as it is there is no option for completely full fare. The highest rate for my booking is fun select and it still indicates you're getting "free room location upgrade".
