Juncti Posted December 5, 2021 #126 Share Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) Well they finally updated the story. CDC issue, and there supposed to have a meeting in 15 minutes discussing the situation. Why didn't they do this meeting hours ago. I don't see us getting on anytime soon We may not be going anywhere Edited December 5, 2021 by Juncti
NavArch64 Posted December 5, 2021 #127 Share Posted December 5, 2021 Unfortunately, I may have guessed correctly. The fact that the luggage is just sitting on the wharf is not a good sign.

We've made it through our CV testing at the Marriott and are sitting on the Riverwalk enjoying a cocktail and waiting for some sign they are letting folks on. Much rather be here than packed inside the terminal! I like your way of thinking!!!

Document the situation and keep receipts for claim purpose if you purchased travel insurance in case the worst case scenario happens.

There must be more to the story...
NavArch64 Posted December 5, 2021 #131 Share Posted December 5, 2021 Under the terms of the CDC CSO, as I understand it, if the ship is coded YELLOW, and the situation deteriorates from there, the company (NCL) and the CDC meet to determine if the ship should be coded RED and voyages are then halted. This could be the meeting coming up.

Ships have sailed red before, so just because a ship is coded red it doesn't mean sailings are halted.
Rare At Sea At Peace Posted December 5, 2021 #134 Share Posted December 5, 2021 They say, 5 seconds ago, all is OK to go. https://cruiseradio.net/norwegian-cruise-line-breakaway-covid-cases-response/ "As for the voyage set to depart on Sunday, December 5, Norwegian’s statement indicated that “there have been no changes to scheduled future sailings,” adding that they would “provide additional updates to impacted guests as appropriate.” And by mid-afternoon on Sunday, guests were being tested and had begun boarding." We will not be able to self isolate if the small chance we test positive for covid. We would have to be able to rent a car to make the 13 hour drive home. Not sure you have a choice about isolation after a positive test. A lot of other people will be involved in the decision if you test positive at any point.

NavArch64 Posted December 5, 2021 #139 Share Posted December 5, 2021 Red status means the ship is at or above the CDC investigation threshold for passenger and crew COVID-19 cases. Based on CDC’s investigation, additional public health precautions, such as returning to port immediately or delaying the next voyage, will be taken to help ensure the health and safety of onboard travelers or newly arriving travelers. Old & Retired Posted December 5, 2021 #150 Share Posted December 5, 2021 8 hours ago, phillygwm said: That's the issue. The ships don't really have the infrastructure to test 2500 people. They're used to testing, maybe, a couple hundred foreign travelers who require it. Incorrect. The crew on any given NCL ship is tested 2-3 times per week, every week. That amounts to thousands of tests per week on the ship.
