What " No drinks "?

Our Butler carried my wife's into the show last week.

Covid messed with Ocho Rios.

Only allowed in shopping area or a ships tour.

More news I am not happy to hear. Good news about the drinks. I guess one can't have it all!

I am envisioning a lot of time spent on the ship. With drink in hand.....

Day 2 of our cruise. Wonderful and relaxing with only a few glitches (besides the embarkation). The ship is the fullest it has ever been per the crew - about 3200 passengers. We were told Yacht Club is full, but we were emailed offers to upgrade to many other canon types for a fee right up to the day before so not sure that is accurate. We have an inside room - 19016, long and narrow and very nice. With Omicron coming, we are being more careful and running a little HEPA air purifier (they have allowed it) and about 95 percent of people are being great with masks. It is hard to avoid crowds in the casino or at the show. They are doing some distancing, but it isn’t enforced. The YC feels uncrowded with plenty of space. Our butler is great and staff are really attentive. As others have noted, there are some changes: the minibar has only beer and pop, but you are given a standard size bottle of spirits or sparking wine to drink here or take home. No biggie for us. No slippers ( those were too big to wear anyway!) and the drinks outside the YC are limited to $15. All of the signature cocktails in Cabaret Rouge - which is this nice lounge with theater acts at the back of the ship - are $16. It seems that many of the cocktails at the Cocktail Bar on 8 by the specialty restaurants are included. I highly recommend that bar if you like to try interesting cocktails. We have read that crepes and gelato are not included either, but who knows - it is MSC! We will try! If not, buying them will stop me from eating them twice a day and gaining 10 lbs. To the person who asked about leaving the ship, we will double check but we were sure you could without a ship excursion as long as you are vaccinated. We have a private tour with “Tours by Locals” in Roatan, so hope so. For anyone wondering, the spa is open including the thermal area. We had a great couples massage with dry floatation with Vanessa. Didn’t spend too much time in the wet areas as it felt a little Covid risky. Someone asked on another thread about almond milk lattes. Yep, they can make them for you here. They are lighter and even if you drink milk, I suggest them if you don’t like how heavy the regular ones are. So far, there have been good vegetarian options. I know this is long, but I find these detailed posts helpful when I’m planning a trip. Let me know if you have questions and I’ll try to answer by the end of the cruise.

Great news about the cocktail bar on 8!  The equivilent on deck 16 on Seaside was our favorite on our sailings on her.  The bartenders weren't too busy, so were very friendly and willing to experiment on drinks!

We asked about it recently and told no drinks for shows as we had prior ships.  That was Mera.

Wow sounds like MSC is trying to go full stream ahead ignoring this new variant! Well good to know Yacht club doesn't fell that crowded even thou being fully booked. Any chance getting dinner menus each not if not allot to ask for =). Please keep us posted on quality of service aboard the ship. Also any one care to challenge the no drinks in the show lounge! Was wondering if a Jarvis with a lid would be allowed during the shows no drink policy, any thoughts? Will be on this ship leaving March 19 and a bit concerned with Covid regulations ruining our cruise!

Auto correct is not your friend.

Ugh Dex yes! I type to fast and never take the time to correct what I type! 🙃 Wish any one can confirm if drinks are being allowed for shows in the Seashore. My past 3 MSC cruises didn't allow drinks for the shows! Past ship was Mera as well JAGR.

Day 3 - We are into the rhythm now and the good much outweighs any bad. In response to some replies - yes, I’ll try to get pics of a few if the YC menus, and yes, the thought of the new variant seems far from the mind onboard. This one will inevitably come through ships. Yesterday afternoon we enjoyed the YC pool deck. Great food at the grill. Drinks are excellent and they will make whatever you want, but it can be a little slow at peak times. We hit the Le Cabaret Rouge again last night - nice to enjoy some of the performers and sit with drinks and less crowds. Service here is hit or miss I’m afraid, but the room is nice and they have a dance floor and partying in the late hours. We did find a wonderful server here -  Tetok I think - who blew the other servers away. She was down serving those on floor near the stage, which was the best place to be anyway. We hit the casino and won $280! That’s a lot for us to win lol. Final stop was Top Sail lounge for a midnight snack. The little goodies are behind plexiglass now, so it isn’t quite as easy to eat 5 cookies before bed, but the servers there will get you what you like. There are a few Venchi chocolates there. Venchi is not included for YC in the main ship.

Last night’s YC menu and the bar menu

Good vegetarian options

Hubby enjoyed the filet and the lamb chops very much, but advises to skip the veal chop

Same as previous YC cruises, the food is good to very good with only a few clunkers

The dining room is open 6-9 and gets really full at 7. Bring your cocktail with you if you eat at 7, or it may be a long wait for the server to get one from the bar. This is where we notice the increased number of passengers in YC the most.

Our favorite drink at the YC grill is the BBC with added chocolate sauce - try it if you like banana

I'll be in 19016 in May! Would you mind taking a few photos if you get a chance? We were really intrigued by what looked like a long narrow layout that was a little different from other YC Interiors. No worries if not, though. Thanks for everything you've posted so far!

Will do! I’ll take one tonite after they make the room up. We were intrigued also. The door opens out directly into the hallway, but it is rather hidden.

MSC has added tables & chairs to Ocean House Restaurant (YC restaurant on Ocean Cay).. 15 additional tables with 4 chairs each .. located on the lawn left side of the restaurant. That almost doubles the seating capacity during lunch.

They added sun lounges on the beach.. capacity is now estimated 150+ passengers plus cabanas. Sun lounges were occupied by 80% today.. doesn’t feel crowded.. waiter service was good.

Nice improvements.

Dare I ask?  Is there still "one" bathroom?

The entertainment director just made an announcement that there will be no production shows during this cruise.. “due to unforeseen circumstances” (leaves room for speculation). There will be shows with Staff Member Talents and shows with orchestra.

MSC credited $100 per stateroom as goodwill gesture.

I am glad that I’ve been to all shows during last weeks 5-day Mexico/Honduras cruise.

Wow

$100 is certainly not worth it. Makes me wonder about those getting on next week.  I will say those juggler guys were amazing. What a shame people are going to miss that.

30 crew members currently in quarantine in Miami with covid…likely related to production as they are always together with no masks while they practice and perform.
