Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 27, 2022 Author #126 Share Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) I think I've just eaten the best meal I've ever eaten on a cruise ship. Comparable to Benares in Berkeley Square, London. Specialty restaurant Khukuri . Edited January 27, 2022 by NorbertsNiece

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 28, 2022 Author #129 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Day 9 / 67 Good morning. We have arrived in Tenerife. Mein Schiff 4 is parked up behind us. She will also be in La Gomera with us tomorrow. Again a late sailaway tonight, 2200. Sat here in PJ's curtains open. Next door is having their balcony washed. Not sure what the procedure is but I've not moved this fast since I last heard my dog throwing up on carpet! 1

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 28, 2022 Author #133 Share Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) Whilst on my walkabout the heavens opened. And then some. I sheltered with a couple of ladies and Ru-fo (sp). My day was cut short and I made it back to the shuttle stop. There are shops built into the harbour wall. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 28, 2022 Author #134 Share Posted January 28, 2022 We're being refuelled. The smell of the exhaust is stifling! Glad I'm in to shut the balcony door!

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 28, 2022 Author #138 Share Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) La Gomera tomorrow. There's no included excursion provided tomorrow so we'll see what we get up to. My friend wasn't terribly impressed with his guide today. Here's some info Google provided : La Gomera, the second-smallest of the main islands in Spain’s Canary Island chain, is marked by craggy volcanic mountains crisscrossed with hiking trails. In higher altitudes, dense forests of ferns and moss-covered trees grow in the mists of Garajonay National Park. Toward the coast, the Valle Gran Rey canyon leads past the whitewashed cliffside village of La Calera and ends at black-sand Atlantic beaches. Thanks for following. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 29, 2022 Author #142 Share Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) Small town. We took a short shuttle ride both ways. The Torre del Conde (The Count's Tower) From Lonely Planet : Set in a grassy subtropical park, the distinctive, 1477 stone-and-whitewash Torre del Conde is considered the Canary Islands’ most important example of military architecture. It was here that Beatriz de Bobadilla, the wife of the cruel and ill-fated Hernán Peraza, had to barricade herself in 1488 until help arrived. The fort was the first building of any note to be erected on La Gomera, and is about the only one to have been more or less preserved in its original state. It was closed today. There's an obligatory pigeon pic. Edited January 29, 2022 by NorbertsNiece

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 29, 2022 Author #144 Share Posted January 29, 2022 I have been extremely fortunate to have been given access to the Medical Centre and I would like to thank Captain Ryan, Guest Services Director Diego Coletti, the ship's physician and staff for giving me some of their very precious time. I was extremely impressed by the facility, the equipment and the fact that they can perform minor surgery. I do hope to not need their services but the fact that they are so well equipped means I shan't be concerned if I do have to. 1

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 30, 2022 Author #150 Share Posted January 30, 2022 Just now, wowzz said: The dreaded La Calima. Very unpleasant. There's dust on the handrail of our balcony. We're keeping the door shut. Really interfered with photos today. Point and shoot technique very much in play! Glare from sun evident except when above dust level.
