Silversea Rome and Venice Hotels

[Desperate to Sail]

We just booked the August 20, 2022 Rome to Venice sailing on the Silver Dawn. Plan to spend a few extra nights ashore in both cities. 

 

Can anyone with recent experience share which hotels Silversea has utilized? That information is not forthcoming at this time. Thanks.

Hi, a few years ago I stayed at the SS hotel in Venice. At that time it was the Bauer Palazzo.  It is a beautiful hotel located near St Marks Square and right on the canal. They have their own dock as well.

I can't tell you if they use the same place now. This was back in 2018.

The Sept. Med. Grand Voyage hotel in Venice was the JW Marriott.  Lovely property on an island but convenient to nothing!

Cruise hotels invariably tend to be big and impersonal chains - OK perhaps for one night but if you are planning longer stays then I would always opt for my own choice, especially in cities like Rome and Venice.

Last time Mrs Banjo and I were in Venice we stayed in the Grand Canal Hotel.  It was a nice boutique hotel with a great location on the canal, and an easy walk from the bus that brought us from the airport.

Check the Londra Palace. Very nice, old fashioned hotel on the canal,  wonderfully located and so convenient to much that's important in Venice. LittleRedJohn

We now show to be booked at the Westin Excelsior in Rome. Good area where we've previously stayed and know. We're pleased 

 

No info yet on the Grande Hotel assignment in Venice.

Have you or anyone else on here  ever stayed at the Westin Excelsior in Rome?  I was pleased until I read some of the reviews!!!  The hotel prices in Rome have skyrocketed since re-opening so I am not considering anywhere else but I am concerned.
