CruizCuz Posted February 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2022 I will be cruising on the Conquest in March. It's my first time on this ship, but I have cruised her sister ships. When I was on the Magic in September/2021, they still had the stringed musicians playing in the Atrium each evening. This is one of my favorite activities on cruise. We go there before dining and enjoy! Does anyone know if there is a group on the Conquest? If so, what is their name? Thank you in advance for any help! Jasonsterling Posted February 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2022 I don't know about Conquest but they were on the Vista and the Breeze as well so I suspect they are playing on all the ships per normal. Probably the safest job on board since they're usually fairly removed from the crowd. Do they have a name beyond Violin Trio? LOL
Lee Cruiser Posted February 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2022 Like Jason, I'm not sure about Conquest, but we just returned from the Valor and they were playing there. There was also a group on the Sunrise back in September.
Bostwick girl Posted February 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2022 The violin group on Magic is something Electric Waves. They’re awesome! They did both a Queen and BeeGees tribute a couple weeks ago.
JoeMo Posted February 3, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2022 Three ships from Galveston have had the "strings" in the atrium, July, Oct, Nov, Dec.
brilliantseas Posted February 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2022 Accidental String Trio was at the Alchemy Bar on Carnival Legend in December. They had a guitar soloist and a duo who took turns on the atrium stage, and a 5-piece band called Alter Idem in Red Frog. Accidental String Trio and Alter Idem were both amazing - they are a big part of the reason I'm repeating the Legend cruise in March!
jldixon62 Posted February 4, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 4, 2022 I don't know the name of the group, but I was on the Conquest for Christmas and there was violin music in the atrium every evening. I really enjoyed it too!
Rare ledges1 Posted February 4, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 4, 2022 Why is there so much violin music. Is this a new trend? Is this in demand? I am cruising to the Caribbean, this seems odd. Is Carnival changing there business model from "The Fun" ship to the Lawrence Welk Champagne Ship? 1

We had the violin trio in the Atrium most evenings on the Pride out of Baltimore back in October. They were far from "Lawrence Welk" music. Very high energy mix of classical, pop, and rock compositions and a very talented group of players. Think of the violins from Eletric Light Orchestra, or perhaps Charlie Daniels or Papa John Creach, not scmaltzy "easy listening music" violin. Don't knock it until you try it! Rare ledges1 Posted February 4, 2022 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2022 Just a difference of opinions. I did hear the trio on the Valor this week. They were very talented. However, there appeared to be only three musical groups on the ship. The violin trio, a band and a solo guitarist for night time music. The piano bar and the casino bar stage were closed and not utilized during the cruise. As I said the trio was talented, it did get old due to lack of music variety during the cruise. I will be on the Freedom in late February and I hope more musical venues will be open. The violin trio did mix up there dress apparel based on their music. One night was more formal. They were dressed in evening gown and ties (break out the bubbly). Another night they were more casually dressed and the music was upbeat as you mentioned. Thanks for your input. beerman2 Posted February 4, 2022 #11 Share Posted February 4, 2022 We had NEW AGE and they were excellent. Spent many nights at the atrium bar listening to them.
Gennystravel Posted February 4, 2022 #12 Share Posted February 4, 2022 I was on the Horizon Nov 20th and the violin trio were in atrium. I literally said to my sister, whoa, I hope this is not a modern version of the titanic.😲

Yes, there are plenty of high energy activities on board Carnival ships. But I also thoroughly enjoyed listening to some extremely talented musicians prior to dinner each evening.

They are ok but they replaced one of the acoustic guitar singers which is our preference. We may watch a few songs but we always move to one of the other soloists or bands.
