why cant they have discounted cheers packages

Heres a thought for Carnival. When the casino offers you free drinks while playing in the casino, why can't they then offer some sort of discount for the rest of the ship. Would be so nice, since my wife does not spend a hugh amount of time in the casino, and I can't drink in the casino if the casino is not opened.

My guess is it is because they don't have to, enough people are buying the drink package anyway.

I agree. They give free drinks in the casino to keep people in there & feed the machines, which is a winning strategy for Carnival.

I believe the casino is its own entity as far as gifts and such...I do not believe these is crossover between the casino and ship as far as that goes.

No they don't crossover, but the casino can and does offer a premium drink package which allows for free drinks thoughout the ship so other than the obvious reasons stated above and the fact that everyone wants to make money, not have an offer between the free in casino and free throughout the ship.

BTW the free throughout the ship is only for the person receiving the offer not for +1 but in this case the ship does allow you to only purchase one cheers package for the other passenger rather than needing to purchase for everyone in the cabin

.....because the casino wants you in there and not drinking elsewhere.  Their goal isn't charity but instead to draw you in to take your money.

right and thats where I usually am, but you cant drink in the casino when the casino is not open, so maybe, the offer should be in the casino when open but anywhere on the ship when not open

as others have said it is because they want us in there...IMO that can't be any more clear than with the recent smoking announcement - smoking is back in the casino, mask free and inside if you are gambling.  

 

They don't want to offer a reduced 'drinks anywhere on us' that means you don't really need to gamble. Granted future offers are based on recent play, so if you're not there you can't expect generous offers.

The casino pays Carnival for DOU drinks.

I'm guessing the reason is Carnival is a business and if they want you to pay for drinks when the casino is closed, that's their choice as a revenue generating strategy.

we sail on feb. 26th on the magic. we have the dou while in the casino.we did buy the drink package. i figured it would be cheaper than staying in the casino drinking free drinks.
