groundloop Posted February 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2022 What's the latest information on cruises from Mobile? Right now I'm seeing a gap in sailings that stretches from this November through next September. Does it sound like Carnival will be abandoning Mobile for good? mz-s Posted February 15, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2022 They plan to have a vessel in Mobile after next year. There is a gap because the Ecstasy and Sensation have been sold. My guess is whether or not Mobile still has a ship next year depends on what happens in Australia, and where the Costa ship that is going to be the next Sunshine-class vessel, ends up. bamaone Posted February 15, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2022 Mobile will probably be without a cruise ship again. We seem to be the one left out when cuts start taking place.

That's really too bad because Mobile is the closest port to me and I hear that it's one of the most convenient for parking.

It's a 8.5 hour drive for us but I'm used to that driving to Port Canaveral. Good to hear Cruise Terminal parking is convenient. We are staying in the Historic District. Any suggestions on restaurants, places to see in Mobile are appreciated. thx!
Tradestock Posted February 15, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2022 The Mobile History Museum and Fort Conde are nice places to visit. The museum currently has a special Viking exhibit through June, 2022. If interested, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is both beautiful and functional. Both of these places are within walking distance of downtown. The USS Alabama battleship is a short drive from downtown. A further drive to Pensacola, you will find NAS Pensacola National Naval Aviation Museum and lighthouse. Both are located on an active Navy station, but are open to the public (make sure to have government identification). On the right day, you just might see the Blue Angels in training. As for eats and drinks, someone else will have to give recommendations.
