Meravilgia likes and dislikes.

After a couple of days on shore I have composed my thoughts on my recent cruise on the Meravilgia.

Will do another section with grades and more comments,  this is simply a list of random items that were either positive or negative.   After more then a 100 cruises over the last 30 years it is pretty easy to see where MSC is compared to other cruise lines.  I have a blessing/curse for detail and notice items that may escape others.

Likes,

The fruit on the buffet was very good.

If you asked for water at one of the bars you a given (if you request it) a 1 liter bottle.  Great Idea!

The pool towels are in the cabin when you arrive and switching them out in either the cabin or on deck is easy.   They don't treat you like a thief.

Found the bedding very comfortable

Ocean Key is a Gem.

Staff seemed to be relaxed and happy

Drink service at pool and bars was very good,  they come to you.

The AC worked well and keep the cabin at a comfortable temp with no needing to adjust.

The casino blackjack are as good as you are going to find.   WAY better then anything other then the highest stakes tables in Vegas.

Minimal PA on sea days

Little or no "upselling"

Dislikes

No electrical near bed

Carts on the walking paths at OC.

Palm trees in atrium.

Dining rooms.  Much more detail on this later

A noticeable lack of policy's, procedures and supervision

Security at metal scanners

Thank you and very good feed back.

We will be on her late this year and it will be our second time with MSC and first on Meraviglia.  Our first was on Divina was not bad but the food was subpar from other line and the wait staffs made up for the food.  Will give MSC another try and hope it would be better and if not MSC will not be one of the choices on future cruise.

I agree on the security at the metal scanners. Very unpleasant. Even at Ocean Cay. If we have a similar experience on our next Divina cruise, we will be done with MSC.

Can you give details about this?

I would agree with the security being intense.  I was pretty sure I was about to be strip searched at Ocean Cay lol.  Overall I found security to be very similar to going through TSA at an airport, other cruises have had the metal detector settings a little less than airports.  I boarded this morning and saw some of the guys from my December cruise so I suspect nothing has changed.

Just the security running the scanners were very abrupt and generally jerks.    Said I had to take off my prescription glasses to go though the scanner.   I was for the director of security to contact me about it.  Never heard from anyone.  And this was at OC their private island.   What is there that they are concerned about?

Contraband can be brought to the island by employees, passed to passengers for use/abuse onboard or for transit to the US.

When docking @ Ocean Cay, you are entering Bahamian waters and as such, MSC is required to adhere to Bahamian customs and regulations. The Bahamian government takes drug possession on its land much more seriously than in the States. Possibly MSC is looking out for itself by not allowing contraband in or off the ship.

Then send them a tip of all the folks trying to sell drugs on the streets near the pier in Nassau.

I am too second to your opinion.  On late October 2021 Divina I had a knee replacement and it set the security up every time returned to the ship from shore.  The security guy probably an Italian was not too friendly (sterned face) and manual searched me from hat off to sun glass etc until he came across the knee.  I knew it is for the security purposes but did not give me a good feeling either.
