watsonbeau Posted March 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2022 (edited) Does QE transit using the old locks from Caribbean to Pacific ? Seem to think it’s the old ones. Thank you Edited March 19, 2022 by watsonbeau
Rare D&N Posted March 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2022 We transited in January 2006 on P&O Arcadia. Both are Vista Class. Wikipedia claim QE is 4.1 metres longer and 10 cm wider. Arcadia passed through the old locks, I would imagine QE would fit as well. We scrapped the side once (result in photo taken at Curaçao) but I believe that was down to a cross wind. Rare D&N Posted March 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2022 "scraped" of course. Arcadia's a bit young to be scrapped!
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 19, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2022 (edited) She has used the old in the past. Unless she has gained weight/girth as we ladies sometimes do, she should again use old locks. My first transit was on another Vista, Oosterdam. Rare Victoria2 Posted March 20, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2022 On our two Panama experiences, the last one being in '16, Victoria has used the old locks.
Rare babs135 Posted March 20, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2022 Almost certainly the old locks. The clearance on both sides is minimal and the Captain (Queen Elizabeth) admitted to scraping the side. The ship in front of us was the Columbus and she had a dent along one side!!!! Absolutely amazing experience.
