I just want to THANK ALL of you for the best info.  I reached out to Ms Katty Byrd and she

was able to be of great help & made arrangements for us to disembark in Ravenna.

Cruise Critic is such a great wealth of information I'm so grateful to all who post on this site.

I have been on CC for years and will continue to unitize it and hope it returns to what is once was, great info!

Glad to hear that it all worked out for you.  She was very helpful to us two years ago under similar circumstances.

Glad to hear that NCL, and especially Katty Byrd, were able to help you.

I just wanted to let you know that Ms. Katty Byrd was also able to get us clearance to disembarking  early. So I just want to thank you so much for sending me to Ms Katty.

Thanks to Cruise Critic for giving us this platform for discussion!

I am currently on my cruise and corporate didn't forward the approval, so I'm still waiting for approval. Not worried, since front desk didn't seem to think it was a problem, but we'll see.

Some people get left behind when they fail to return to the ship on time.   I'm sure that the authorities are notified when this happens.

That's true, but that really isn't the subject area of this discussion.  Rather than an "oops, I missed my ship" issue, the main thrust of this discussion has been the possibility of planning in advance to depart a cruise prior to its final destination.  If you simply fail to return to the pier by the "all on board" time, most of your belongings will still be in your stateroom, although the ship's crew will attempt to retrieve your passport and turn it over to the harbor master.  If you plan to disembark early, though, the assumption is that you will pack your bags and take all your belongings with you, an entirely different kettle of fish.

Successfully disembarked in Le Havre, a day early and on the train to paris!

Enjoy Paris!

While waiting in the line to check our baggage for our flight in March to Amsterdam, I struck up a conversation with a young couple. They were going to Paris. I strongly suggested that though it is outside of Paris that they visit Monet's Gardens. I'm now giving you the same advice.

This is crazy!  I just watched a TikTok about hopping on a train to Monet's house to see the lillies in the pool after seeing his work at Musee de Orsay, and then I come to read this wow

We really enjoyed our day trip to Giverny when we had a port day on a cruise to Le Havre.  Now every time we visit a museum and see some of Monet’s work, we point and say “We’ve been there!  I remember that lily pond!  That bridge was full of people from our tour bus when we tried to get a picture of it!”

My DW is a retired art teacher, but she was still an active elementary art teacher when we landed in Paris on our 40th anniversary. We were not going to miss Monet's gardens.

She wanted a tee shirt, but they all seemed to be either large or kid sizes, and she needed small. She found just one. The checkout clerk said this will never fit you and opened it from its package and held it up to her. It was a perfect fit.

And yes, it is one of the most beautiful spots on Earth.

Yes departing early you usually have an escort, leaving with all your bags and no escort or paperwork would be a huge red flag and I’m sure security would detain you and not let you off

We were on a Celebrity cruise ship at Cobh, the port for Cork, Ireland, when the security officer at the gangway stopped us to ask why I was carrying a very full duffel bag off the ship.  So I said “laundry” and he let us pass, but with a quizzical look.  Although we have enough Latitudes points to always get free laundry services on NCL, on board laundry with Celebrity would have cost an arm and a leg.  Fortunately, there’s a drop off laundry in Cobh a couple of blocks from the pier.  It’s across the street from the Titanic museum and right next to a couple of nice restaurants.  An entire duffel bag, about six days of clothes for two of us, washed, dried, and folded, cost about $10.  We went to the museum, had lunch, and the laundry was ready for us when we returned.

You are VERY lucky. I wanted to get something cleaned while in Portugal and a full day was the minimum turnaround time. Didn't have the time to wait, unfortunately.
