Rare KmomChicago Posted April 26, 2022 Author #126 Share Posted April 26, 2022 Went onshore for a bit at Mahogany Bay and scored some good rasher shirts for our excursions tomorrow and the next day. Picked up lunch at Marketplace, just random bites and then hummingbird cake and tiramisu cheesecake. We are not real picky eaters and thought it was all yummy enough, if not as posh as breakfast in the MDR.
Rare KmomChicago Posted April 26, 2022 Author #127 Share Posted April 26, 2022 We have trivia and games all afternoon. Amin’s accent is adding a little fun and confusion to the proceedings. 😂

Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #132 Share Posted April 27, 2022 Early dinner after trivia. It’s confession time, y’all. Sometimes when I read the MDR menu I have NO IDEA. Hubby too. We discussed this appetizer menu: And we thought that roasted broccoli and three cheese seemed really unusual and once in a lifetime sort of creative thing. I wondered how charred the stalk or slab of broccoli would be and how much of each cheese would be sprinkled over it, or if that was quite what the preparation would look like. So I ordered it. And this is what the preparation looked like. Because it’s, you know, a very bizarre and exotic and unusual broccoli cheese soup and, well, actually, to tell the truth, pretty similar flavorwise to any number of broccoli cheese soups I’ve had over the past oh, twenty years or so. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was tasty and quickly slurped right on into soupblivion. But I’m apparently a VERY literal creature and I didn’t see any mention of soup on the menu and so soup never occurred to me. Please weigh in here, talk amongst yourselves. 2 1
Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #133 Share Posted April 27, 2022 Hubby got the appetizer portion of linguine with Italian sausage which was delicious and perfect al dente on the cook but pretty daggone large for an appetizer, like more like a child size portion for their actual meal.
Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #134 Share Posted April 27, 2022 Mains for tonight. Grilled beef tenderloin medium rare for DH and Salmon Cake for me. His beef was very good and almost melty tender. My salmon cake was okay but I wasn’t bowled over by it, but the mustard cauliflower it sat on was outstanding. It would be a killer entree for a vegan, a paleo, or anyone trying to get more non-starchy veg into their diets. I don’t really like cooked spinach and this was no exception.
Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #135 Share Posted April 27, 2022 More melting cake for DH and Bitter N Blanc for me, which, guess what? I didn’t know what it was going to be. It turned out to be bread pudding with a very tiny bit of (I think) bitter chocolate. I’m sure it’s elevated and that’s why they don’t just call it what it actually is. 🤷♀️ Tasty but we are so full by dessert it’s literally hard to choke it down. Talk about First World problems.

As far as he could tell the snails themselves had no flavor at all. 1

Meanwhile I'm just sitting here wondering if they'd blink an eye if I made dinner out of 4 of the apps - fried mozzarella, meatballs, minestrone and linguine. 🙊 1

Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #139 Share Posted April 27, 2022 It took me until night 4 of 7 to realize the desk mirror lights up. We REALLY don’t spend much time in the room. 2
Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #140 Share Posted April 27, 2022 We’re turning in early again. None of tonight’s entertainment is beckoning very hard. There are some Punchliner shows but those have been filling up and we’re not willing to queue up 30-45 minutes early. Deal or No Deal looks boring to me; I don’t like that kind of game show with all the inane drivel in between the action. (Sorry) Love and Marriage show is usually good fun and I’m sure Kyndall does a bang up job of it, but it’s at 9:30 tonight and we need to be in the Liquid Lounge dressed, packed and rarin’ to go at 7:30 am for our Lamanai Mayan ruins tour. A Bob’s Burgers just started on Adult Swim. We have a winner! Good night all, it’s 8pm. Kmom signing off until tomorrow.

I am right there with you, I was expecting a broccoli forest. Or, this being Carnival, a bonsai. Nowhere does it say “soup” or “purée.” 1

This is the most veg I’ve seen in anyone’s Carnival pics. Good job!

Rare maxandmolly Posted April 27, 2022 #144 Share Posted April 27, 2022 When I read that menu I automatically assumed it was soup. Dunno why. The meatballs looked like a good option to me. 1

I'll just have some garlic and butter".

Rare KmomChicago Posted April 27, 2022 Author #150 Share Posted April 27, 2022 Happy to see the world is split between intuitive soup detectors and people like me. That’s why it’s so important we all work together. As my mom says, I don’t know everything, only half of everything.
