Rare EngIceDave Posted May 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2022 Hello, have a cruise in the fall (Carnival Pride) Rome - Lisbon I built in a couple days at the beginning and the end, and wife and I have both discovered the fun of walking food tours. We do not drink, so wine isn't necessary, just food. Want to try local cuisines. Looking for three cities actually...Rome, Lisbon and would also like to do one in Messina Sicily. Anyone with ideas or experience on this in these locations? Thank you
Baxter68 Posted May 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2022 No experience yet, but in a few weeks we are doing one with Eating Europe (eating Italy) in Rome and a couple others with tours by locals called “10 tastings of Florence, naples, etc” can report back after we do them! Have done food tours in Denver, CO, Puerto Vallarta, etc and have a newfound love for them!
-Lew- Posted May 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2022 Eating Europe offers food tours in various European cities. We've toured with them in Rome, Prague, and Lisbon. They offer two in Rome: Twilight Trastevere Rome Food Tour and Taste of Testaccio in Rome Italy. We've done both and would say we enjoyed the Twilight Trastevere tour more. All That Jazz Posted May 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2022 Our first food tour was in Shanghai with Culinary Back Streets -- enjoyed the first tour so much we engaged a different tour the next day. (Yes, we know Shanghai is not possible now.) However, Lisbon is one of the cities they serve. We've been on their tours in Istanbul (2 different tours), Barcelona, and Athens. They take you into the neighborhoods where the locals live and eat. They are our first choice always for food tours. Lots of city guides and information on the website even it you don't book with them.

scrapcreator Posted June 25, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2022 @LewThank you for the Twilight Trastevere tour recommendation! We took it after disembarking Celebrity Beyond in Rome on 6/13. It was a fabulous tour with a great, local guide.

FLConnie Posted August 2, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 2, 2022 Last trip to Rome we did the Jewish Getto food tour through Viator. Very good food and interesting history that we never would have found on our own.
Ski Mom 2 Posted August 6, 2022 #13 Share Posted August 6, 2022 In 2018 we had 4 days prior to our cruise in Lisbon. We booked 2 different tours with https://www.wehatetourismtours.com/ One tour was to Sintra and one was lunch with a local. The lunch turned out to be just the two of us and our tour guide (Gonzo who was fantastic!). We spent hours eating, drinking and learning all about life in Lisbon. Not exactly a food tour but totally enjoyable. I see they have had to revamp their tours after Covid but their web site does say they will provide personal tours. I would send them an email and tell them what you’re looking for. They may be able to help you out.
