We board the Wonder on July 31st.  Do you have the entertainment schedule?  We want to reserve dares for entertainment.  We have 12 in our party.

Thanks

for get the app as it can have glitches.  When you get on and do muster first, then proceed to deck 4 The ATTIC and you can reserve all your shows.  Have a few of the others with you so you all can get shows,

BTW it is easy to do standby as well.  I used the lovely app on Anthem and everything crashed.

When you go to the Attic it will be quicker and easier and they review it all with you.  I did this on Wonder ad SOS recently.

The captain announced "3 percent" on the last day of the the TA.  It wasn't a full sailing.  I missed the 170 number?  Seems a bit high to be 3 percent of that passenger base, but I do miss things.

I think unreported/untested cases were much higher.  I know several people who tested positive and could not fly back to the USA, or tested positive shortly after flying home (to the USA, Canada and Germany) so it seems to have been lots of places.  (we tested negative again to reboard 2 days later, and I tested negative again today before leading Girl Scouts, so hopefully I managed to escape it...we did shy away from crowds and wear our makss when we could not).

On the TA there were lots of people coughing or suffering from "allergies" or "colds" who were not testing and assuming not covid....many, many of them were Americans....I think it is unfair and just ont true to blame that only on the Spaniards and the Brits..seems to be ubiquitous regardless of culture (except the two groups from the Phillpines who did keep masks on nearly always)

I agree with excusrions bus experience.....on my excursion at least half the people never wore their masks on the bus and no one said anything to them about it.  That was quite frustrating.  All I could do was keep my FFP2 (N95) mask on and hope for the best.  I do wish RCI would enforce that rule on the busses.

Oh, and, someone asked, on the TA and the 2 day trade event, NO, no one ever approached coughing or sniffling people and asked them to reprot to the doctor, etc.

I was on the Wonder TA as well and can attest to the fact that many people did have obvious cold symptoms, especially toward the end of the 14-day trip.   But I believe the vast majority of them did not contact Medical (for fear of testing positive and having to go to quarantine).   Royal really gave us very little information during the trip, although the captain did state on the last day that 3% of the ship apparently tested positive, but we suspect there were many more cases.  No masks were required anywhere and there were a number of events that involved passengers in huge crowds shoulder to shoulder.   Several of our friends onboard encountered teams in hazmat suits "sanitizing" whole hallways where they were told to either leave their cabin or agree to remain inside for a hour - an indication that cases must have been in that area, though it didn't happen in our area at the aft of Deck 12.   Royal didn't offer any help to people with testing in order to fly home - since the cruise originated in Florida and ended in Barcelona, nearly all the American passengers onboard needed to have a monitored negative test in order to fly home.   Royal suggested that people could schedule a test in one of our final ports in Spain or at the airport at their own expense, but we heard that a number of passengers who tested at the airport (With luggage in hand) tested positive and weren't able to fly back to the US that day - even though they had no symptoms and felt fine.   And I saw on the Cruise Critic thread for our cruise that several people reported testing positive after arriving home.   I personally started having some cold symptoms on the last day of the cruise, did a home test which I had brought with me and was negative.   We were staying on for two days in Barcelona, but I can tell you it was a most stressful time since I was so worried that I would test positive and be unable to return on my booked flight.   Fortunately, my Emed test was negative, and I tested myself several days after returning home and was negative, despite still having cold symptoms.   Another couple in our traveling party tested positive and had to stay on in Barcelona for an additional week and really scrambled to change flights, find a new hotel (since the one they had booked for one night was full) -- we've since heard that RCL may have offered some assistance, but not sure about that.   They had most definitely contracted covid toward the end of the cruise.    We noted more people were wearing masks toward the end of the cruise, but again, RCL really didn't offer any information or warnings to take more precautions.   When we cruised back in December, there were signs limiting elevators to 6 people, but no such limits on the TA.   If we saw an elevator was crowded, we waited for another.   The ship was only a little over half capacity, can't imagine what would have happened if they had been full.  We've decided not to travel out of the country again until the Govt eliminates the pre-flight test requirement - it is simply too stressful - we live in Florida and will stick to Caribbean cruises.   We need a test to board, but won't have to worry about testing for an international flight home.   We were really hoping the govt would have eliminated the pre-flight testing by the time we went, but with cases seeming to be up, it doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon.

Thanks for the report. Yes, that pre flight test when you are out of the country is really nerve racking. Having to quarantine there is a a real downer on taking a cruise from another country if you are positive.

I’ve been following someone on Facebook who has posted these which might be useful. Also bear in mind it’s been mentioned that the Effectors 2 is coming in the summer so I’d possibly expect some changes.

Hi @ladychater, can you tell me if people have been dressing up in the evenings? What about formal night?
Thanks

Hi,

I'm home now.  People did indeed dress up in the evenings, but we saw all sorts, everything from a guy in a beer t-shirt in the MDR to ladies in sequined dresses.  There were 2 formal nights.  We missed the second one.  With this itinerary, you're so busy during the day that it's hard to get too excited about the nightlife.  At least that was true for us.  We were up at the crack of dawn every day, usually off the ship by 9am and not back on until about 7pm.  In between it was walking, walking, walking!

I'd like to recommend Tap Factory (the Stomp-esque dance show) and 365 (the ice show).  Both were FABULOUS.  The Aquashow (inTENse) left us a bit cold.  It was okay, but not phenomenal.  Maybe we were too tired to appreciate it.  Don't sit under the overhang, or you'll miss the highwire act and the platform divers.

And now, a little covid story (turn away now if this stuff pisses you off).

On the last day of the cruise, my partner and I took covid tests.  I'd had the sniffles since the previous Friday, when I'd taken my pre-embarkation covid test, and assumed it was seasonal allergies (orange trees make me sniffle, and they were in full bloom across Spain and Italy).  I was wrong.   I tested positive, my partner was negative.  This was in the afternoon of the last sea day.  I told my partner that I was going to be moved to an isolation cabin, so I packed my bag, then called down to medical to report that I had covid.  I was told to sit in my room and that someone would get back to me.  About 45 minutes later, a nurse called and directed my partner and I to go down to Medical, using the midship elevator.  That was it.  Not told to wear a mask, not told to ensure that no one else boarded the elevator.  We masked up and went down.  They gave us antigen tests and sent us to our room, asking that we stay there.  30 minutes later, we got a call saying that I was positive, my partner was negative and that they were going to use my sample to run a PCR test.  My boyfriend was free to move about the ship, but they asked me to stay in the cabin.  An hour later, I got a call saying that I was positive, and that someone from Guest Services would contact me.  Eventually Guest Services called and said that I was to stay in my cabin for the rest of the cruise and that someone would come to escort me off the ship.  My partner was free to choose whether he wanted to go home or not.  We said he'd go home and that he was taking the ship's shuttle to the airport.  They were fine with it, didn't even ask him to wear a mask or anything.  I was told to go online and find myself a hotel in Barcelona.  Royal would pay up to 250 euros per night for 5 nights and up to 100 euros per day for food.  I was to gather my receipts and was given an email address to send my expenses to.  Other than that, I was on my own.  The lady said I was lucky because I'd be able to  move about freely in Spain, they have no quarantine policy.  I was to find my own tests, or doctors, or whatever I'd need to be cleared to fly home and was to reach out to Air To Sea when I was ready to go (I'd booked through Air To Sea).  SCARY!  How was I going to navigate eating 3 times a day without spreading my illness?  How was I going to keep getting tested?  What if I was positive for more than 5 days?  In a panic I asked "if I test negative tomorrow, can I still go home?"  I  was told yes, and that it would be great if that happened, but that I would still get escorted off the ship (I'd even be allowed to get on the shuttle bus with my partner).  Well, miracles do happen, and I tested negative on the morning of disembarkation!  Maybe it was a false negative, maybe it was because I'd probably already had covid for 9 days.  Anyway, I got my proof of negative QR code, strapped on my KN95 mask and bolted for home!  Luckily, the plane was empty so I could distance myself and I kept that mask glued to  my face.  I'm quarantining at home now, assuming that I still have covid.  I'll take a home test tomorrow to know for sure.  But that's what happens if you get covid at the end of a cruise in Barcelona.

It came as a huge surprise to me but staying on the ship was listed on my form letter as one of the possible options for continuing isolation.

Doesn’t surprise me in the least.

Royal are offering to reimburse up to $250 a day for hotels and $100 for food if you test positive on board and have to isolate on land. Staying on board probably costs them less than 20% of that.
