biomedbob Posted May 31, 2022 #26 Share Posted May 31, 2022 I booked "Ocean View" and only saw cranes and container trailers when in port.

Like I said, first time on RCCL in 5 years and I just wondered if there was a reason. Apparently not so I will just book what cabin I want and not care what I have a view of! Usually it isn't about the dock at all! Of my next 2 cruises one is starboard and one is portside.

Oasis class ship was docked port side to pier in Cococay this past Friday..I was on board Mariner docked starboard to pier. I was on The Mariner also, which is why my question! I had a lovely view of the water, which was much better than the other ship that was in port! It worked out to my favor !

LOL Sorry...couldn't resist....especially since I was on the ship during the "bump". 😉 Only a tiny dent on the aft of the ship, but the mooring tie line extension...did not survive. Burial at sea.

Think battering ram on a ladder.

RedIguana Posted June 2, 2022 #34 Share Posted June 2, 2022 (edited) I think they always dock with the pointy end at the front, unless the front falls off. Edited June 2, 2022 by RedIguana spelling

Almost no damage to the ship (just cosmetic actually)....but think trash compactor going at an aluminum ladder. That kind of noise. 😉
