It takes about an hour to drive in each direction, although could be longer if you run into traffic. I'd leave myself plenty of time for the return trip. If there is a problem on the Beeline Expressway, there are not many alternate routes and you could get stuck in traffic. A single day pass for a Disney park is also VERY expensive now...especially if you're only there for part of a day. There are some free things that you can do, like Disney Springs with shops and restaurants. There is an excursion to Disney or Universal that can be booked through the cruise (return transport) so would book that as then the onus is on them to get you back on time. We have looked at tickets for 1 day but here in the UK it seems that you can only get 7 or 14 day ones. We have asked our friend in the US to have a look for us at the cost of a 1 day park pass and we will go from there. If it is too expensive then we will look at other options.

Thanks The few times we did it, we rented a car. Also we were only going to Disney Springs. I would not do a park because of the limited time in PC and the cost of a one day ticket. If still had an annual pass, it might change my opinion

These are the one day ticket prices for the next few months. This is in USD and are for 1 park only (no hopping). Pricing is from Disney site. Roybthered Posted June 12, 2022 #129 Share Posted June 12, 2022 Many thanks Jessy for taking the time for this. We thought it would be around those prices, would we be able to buy when we get there or would we have to buy online? We cannot buy from the UK as I have said as it is 7 or 14 days only. Thanks

Thanks It’s better to buy them at least a little in advance now because you have to make park reservations since covid. I would hate for you to try to buy them at the gate and then not be able to get in. I miss the days when DVC members used to get great discounts on annual passes. Rare JessyCruises Posted June 12, 2022 Author #131 Share Posted June 12, 2022 We will be in Port Canaveral today. The gangway is supposed to be open from 1PM to 8:30PM. Our plan is to hang out in the solarium again today. We were thinking of taking an Uber or the bus to Bealls outlet because Paul’s sneakers have basically fallen at apart but I cannot seem to find a list of stores they have so I don’t think we will bother. We just did brunch at the Solarium bistro. They had the normal breakfast stuff (eggs, their weird bacon, beans, sausages, corn beef hash etc) as well as fried rice, roast chicken, turkey, mashed potatoes. Love the convenience of the bistro when we are already in the solarium and it never seems as hectic as the WJ. I will say the food everywhere has been 100% better than what we experienced on the Ovation last month!

Thanks Disney parks require a reservation, in advance. And you need a ticket to reserve the park. Not sure how you could get around that to buy a ticket but I wouldn't want you to be disappointed or go all the way there and not be able to get the ticket. Also keep in mind you will only have a few hours at the park you choose, the excursion to Disney drops off at the TTC so you need to take the monorail to the park from there, probably not getting into Magic Kingdom until 3pm, then having to get back to the TTC for the right time, you'd need to leave by 7 or so. MamatoJack thank you for the information. We have just spoken to a very good friend who we met on a cruise to Cuba a few years ago and she has said she will look at getting us tickets (we would send the money to her) and reserve the day. Yes I understand that we will have about 5 or 6 hours only in the park but to see the face of our Granddaughter would be priceless. Our friend has just asked what day (18th Oct) we will be there and she is in Orlando with her family around that date and may well be in the magic Kingdom on that day!!!! now that will really be a trip to remember, they will be travelling from North Carolina.

If you dock at port canaveral around 1 pm then wait for clearance and for everyone to get on the bus, probably leave the area around 2:30ish then 1 hr drive (not sure which park the royal caribbean transport drops off at). Then go thru security at the port (usually lines) you will probably have about 4 hrs in the park. Only you can decide if it is worth it. There are plenty of families that do it. I think John&Lala and I are among the few cheerleaders. I think its a fantastic show. I was the 1st show I ever saw on Broadway back in 1992. I actually got to sit in the section that was right onstage. I have seen it a couple times on tour and I have lost count of how many times I have seen it on Oasis. Cats was the very first live production I ever went to that was not ballet or classical opera. I LOVED IT. It opened my mind to the pure joy of Broadway shows. Awesome. I still love opera and ballet but I also love so much more! It's like when I saw Wicked at Gershwin. Some magic happens and it stays with you. So count me in your crowd. Too each his/her own- but if you read comments about cats- not our favorite bway show- Have seen much more entertaining shows on Royal- Hairspray, Chicago, Mama Mia, Grease were all great- Cats not so. And many more great shows on Broadway. Edited June 13, 2022 by Cruise a holic 1
Maureen52 Posted June 13, 2022 #143 Share Posted June 13, 2022 Could you expand a bit on your trip to Disney Springs please? We are booked for the excursion (6 of us at $39 each) but I was wondering if there is an easier way. Uber,Lyft? Not sure what the prices would be. I'm concerned that we would be wasting time at the Disney transportation hub. Thank you 22 hours ago, JessyCruises said: The few times we did it, we rented a car. Marleycruiser Posted June 13, 2022 #144 Share Posted June 13, 2022 Great review and thank you for taking the time to post. We will be getting on in a month or so, and was wondering if the bar serves Jose Cuervo Gold? It is not listed on the drink package sheet but I have had a friend who thinks they serve it. Much appreciated if you can confirm or let me know what kind of Tequila's they have "in stock."

One other thing to be aware of...queues to get on the rides can be very long. I'm not sure how the fast pass works now, but I'd guess that you will only be able to ride 2-4 of the popular rides in a 4 hour window in the summer when crowds are at their greatest.

It has a lot of shops, restaurants, bars, and few extra pay items like a tethered balloon ride (similar to the one at Coco Cay) and bowling. It's a glorified outdoor shopping area but it does have a few things that you won't easily find elsewhere like a huge Disney store, a cool Lego store, and "immersive" restaurants like Rainforest Cafe and T-rex Cafe. It's just off I-4 and has its own large, free parking area, so no need to go to the transportation hub. Ubering that far might be expensive. More info here.

There was 5 of us. I booked a mini van for the day. I think it was through Budget. They had a shuttle and picked us all up at the port. At the return I dropped everyone off at the ship then returned the van and I think I took an Uber back because the location had already closed for the day.
