Peggy's Cove vs. St. Martins

If you could choose one excursion to either Peggy's Cove or to St. Martins, which one and why? 

 

Two middle aged people, we can walk but some what limited in how far and how fast. My husband twists his ankle stepping off a curb so walking on unsteady ground makes me nervous for him.  (I'll get there but I need a rest along the way...) 

 

The advantage of Peggy's Cove is that it only take less than four hours which gives us time to see other parts of Halifax. St. Martins would eat up time and our energy. 

 

Thoughts, anyone?

We did Peggy's Cove on the last sailing on another company and found it to be a very long day and drive.

 

The area around the town are many of hilly road and very rocky surfaces more closer to the Lighthouse itself. The only area is a few shops before the lighthouse and the Lobster Restaurant/Gift Shop. We went by bus and was always close to the end of the road.

 

Halifax as send in other forum topics is more like a regular city with level sidewalks. Also a beautiful Harborway Walk along the boardwalk. We love to walk around Halifax the many times there. There should be tours to see other areas with stops close up.

 

If you are talking about St Martins in Caribbean also two types of climates. Ship have a very long piers they constructed and you can't walk to the main part of the town. Maybe there would be a shuttle.

 No, St. Martins in Saint John, Canada (New Brunswick). We are stopping in both Halifax and Saint John.

Not to knock PC but your concern of mobility caught my eye and was not sure how you would want to deal with it.  We personally love Halifax for it's waterfront, shops, favorite restaurants and Museum not far from the Pier that is interesting with Titanic exhibit. Have to remember the rescue ship docked in Halifax after bring in those from the Titanic.

 

PC is a one time place to visit.

You would have a lot more walking in St Martins if you want to get out to the sea caves and it will be ocean floor. So it will be wet, possibly muddy. You also need to make sure you go at low tide.

Peggy's Cove is pretty compact when you compare the two.
