Cruise Critic Sailing Aboard Carnival Spirit 7/13 - Ask Us Your Questions

Recommended Posts

Cruise Critic is sailing aboard Carnival Spirit's 8-day cruise to Alaska from Seattle that departed yesterday (7/13). We're out in the bumpy Pacific right now, and are scheduled to call on Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria, along with a day of exploration in Tracy Arm Fjord.

If you have any questions about the ship or the trip, ask away! We'll do our best to answer.

Hello! Any chance of a picture of, or at least a good description of where one would find a Wheel of Fortune slot machine in the casino? I'm organizing a group slot pull for an upcoming sailing and I'd love to be able to give a good description of where the machine is located to tell folks where to meet.

Related to that, is there an e-mail address to contact someone at the Spirit casino ahead of time to help coordinate arrangements?

Thanks, and enjoy your cruise!

Can you give us an honest assessment of the ship's condition? Seems Spirit class of late has been looking a bit rough, per some of the reviews. Things like the bathroom doors very rusty at the bottom and balcony doors not shutting properly, as well as generally more visible damage and rust than "average."

It's a bit of a mixed bag: the public rooms are in great shape, and it's clear there's some reupholstered furniture along with new carpeting in stairwells and whatnot. There are some areas, particularly the outer decks, where the ship could use some TLC. It's not affecting my cruise experience, but hopefully something Carnival rectifies in drydock down the line.

So there are three Wheel of Fortune machines in the Casino, all of which are to the left of the Casino Bar on the port side of the ship.

Thanks for sharing. We’re going to be on the spirit in September.  Does the ship feel fully staffed, everything open, full playlist cast?  Also, how does the Seafood Corner compare to the Seafood Shack?  Thanks!  Have a great cruise!

Thank you, that's great information.

Thanks to jvescape for the details, too.

I haven't tried the Seafood Shack yet, but I'm planning to check it out soon!

Everything onboard is open (not sure about the kid's clubs though, to be honest - it's on my list of things to check). The ship feels well-staffed, at least compared to past Carnival cruises -- I don't notice any major differences yet. (On some past voyages I've taken since the restart last year, it's been immediately apparent that the ship was understaffed).

Last night's production was changed from 88 Keys to another production at the last minute, but I'm not sure why the reason for change. No one seemed to mind in any event.

Does the Spirit gave Dive In movies or are they shown in the theatre?  I know there are some of each in this class.

They're offered outdoor on the pool deck, under the magrodome cover. Last night's was well-attended.

Did a naturalist come on board to narrate on the day of Tracy Arm? Enjoy your cruise!

The naturalist we had on June 29th cruise was named Chris and he was EXCELLENT. He was with us the whole cruise.

Chris is onboard our sailing and has been fantastic. Nice to have an onboard naturalist, which not every cruise line has. But no external people come onboard in Tracy Arm; that only happens in Glacier Bay National Park.

Do you know of the locations for the self-serve laundry rooms?  We are looking at a cruise next year and are holding a cabin on Deck 5.

There should be one on each stateroom deck, but I'll double-check that.
