Not what I am asking.

I paid for cruise with $750 FCC that expires Dec 31/22.

Take option 2 and get a new FCC, instead of refund option 3 which would give your your FCC back.

If 1/2 cruise paid with FCC that has a December 31/22 expiry date- how is that handled? Will they extend FCC to December 31/23?

I agree with @ldtr Take option 2 and you should get your New FCC, good till Dec 2023.  That’s what I would do if a replacement didn’t work for me.

Would it have an extended expiry date?

It would have the same expiry date that they will be giving all of the people that choose that option.

This non refundable FCC used expires Dec31/22- expires if not used,

so this is a way to get it extended?

Most of my FCC expire Sept 30/23, , except for this one.

thanks

Did you go through a TA or PCL?

i would verify it with them.  The way it reads on the options, it sure looks like

it would give you a new expiry date.

Why would they cancel a cruise and not extend the FCC so you can use it at a later date?  I don’t know if you’ll get a correct answer on the regular phone lines.  But, if you have a TA or CVP they should be able to clarify. Let us know.

Not clear on why that portion was not extended when all my other FCC were during the last 3 cancellations.

I ended up with- 3 expiry dates: Dec31/22,April 30/23, Sept 30/23.

last time I spoke to agent at Princess she said the Dec31/22 FCC were non refundable ones.

- no problem- applying to Oct.22 cruise now.

Our FCC was ready to expire the end of this year and that’s why we’ve booked a couple of cruises, one of which was the canceled Diamond cruise. I noticed that the new expiration date for the FCC from the Diamond cruise is now end of 2023.  So I have a feeling yours will be the same.

These cruises were cancelled months ago.  The only new announcement was the Diamond.   Hopefully they will be able to fully staff the Sapphire for her LA and South America season.

Thanks kiwimum.  I haven't kept up with all of the changes.  But will keep a careful eye on the Diamond/Japan restart.  I have a vested interest in that one.  I do hope they make these announcements before final payment.  They haven't in the past.  Seems as though they want passengers to pay the full price and then deal with them.

Got caught up with that when the pandemic first struck.  FCC's and bonus OBCs are not that important to me.  Nice to have, but not worth the hassle.

I am not blaming Princess.  I thought they were bringing ships online too quickly.  They should have swapped out the Diamond or Sapphire for the Crown this summer.  I also know it is not financially reasonable to have them cruise with less capacity for the lack of crew.  But what do I know.

I am really disappointed,  but called my CVP to rebook in November.  She was shocked by the news. She said there was no mention in their Monday morning meeting.  She found out at 3pm, which is when my email was sent to me

Well darn it anyway.  I have 3 B2B cruises now cancelled.  Tomorrow is the dreaded phone call to Princess trying to get them switched to the Discovery out of LA.     I was loving the fact I was going to get to sail out of SD.   Had casino offers on all 3 trips, so this should be fun trying to sort out.

I'm also wondering why it took them so long to come up with their "excuse" as to canceling all the cruises.    Seems to me they should have figured it out long before now.

I had a feeling this was going to happen when the website kept showing up unavailable to book.  This really stinks for those of us set to leave in less than a month.  I agree that they knew long before now that these cruises were not going to go.  I’m not sure what my plans are now.

9 Sapphire/Diamond cruises cancelled so far this year...

Timing is suspicious as the Diamond has just arrived in San Pedro.

Thank God for cruise critic! This was the first I knew of this.  I am sooooo disappointed I was really looking forward to the Diamond Princess and the different ports but I guess it is not in the cards sadly.  Off to the Discovery Princess it is! 🙁

I think my 9/24 Sapphire cruise is toast also, it’s only a matter of time before I get the notification. Like the Diamond, it’s been showing “ currently unavailable” for a few weeks now and none of the cruises were sold out.
Im disappointed but have been expecting it.

We recently cancelled the Diamond from San Diego to Tokyo Feb 2023  as they had not yet posted shore excursions and it did not feel good. We have booked an Azamara cruise for the same date. It's time to explore the cruise market.

Got a very good deal on the cancelled cruise.   If I transfer it to another cruise listed does the price I paid for cancelled cruise roll over to new cruise.   Or will I have to pay more.

The letter and my CVP said if I pick one on the list, price and perks are the same. One on my list was a day shorter, so not a good value!

When a Cruise Line is responsible for a cancellation, they usually help the passenger with more than just OBC or FCC. For example, other cruise lines support you with some of the airline date change fees (even if you haven't booked it with them). What could you do if you have an international flight to get to your cruise and Princess cancel that sailing with less than a month of notice in advance?

I think these cruises were not selling well.  My sailing looked like it was sailing less than half maybe even only a third capacity.  Princess made a calculated decision on this as relatively few people are impacted.  There was no mention of assistance with non-refundable airfare or hotel reimbursement.  I imagine if push came to shove they would pony up but it’s a hassle for the customer.

This is not the Princess that I have been loyal to for 20 years.  So sad.

Maybe Princess has only has enough available crew to restart the Diamond or the Sapphire but not both, and they chose the Sapphire to restart next month and postpone the Diamond another 90 days ?

.

Sorry the Diamond cruises were cancelled. We are on the Sapphire in Oct. fingers crossed this happens.

Thanks for posting, Laura
