I'm not following you on this -- can you explain? Whenever we have used reloadable cards in the past, it doesn't make any difference what the currency is -- if you load $1000 in the US, you can use it in Italy to pay a charge of 1002 euros. The currency is automatically converted by whatever bank is offering the card. I've never done it, but presumably I could then re-load the card while in Italy from my account in euros and could then use it at home to pay in dollars, if I wanted. Is what you're saying something different?

Is what you're saying something different? You can pre-load your card at the fx rate on that day. Your fx rate is therefore locked in. Possibly not too much of an advantage to Americans with a strong dollar, but can be beneficial to us Brits where sterling seems to constantly decline.
