Rare pontac Posted September 8, 2022 Author #51 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Thanks for the feedback. Great to hear from you and I'm glad you're enjoying the cruise. I didn't manage to get my review of my cruise posted before you left, but it's up now here
Mhdelaware Posted September 8, 2022 #52 Share Posted September 8, 2022 What is the tipping situation? I read that it is a collective tip at the end?
Canal archive Posted September 8, 2022 #53 Share Posted September 8, 2022 No all tips are included in your original costs although if you feel that a particular member of staff deserves a little extra that’s up to you.

They are good but... a little on the pricey side. Many shops in Bordeaux make and offer cannelés and I've never been disappointed. Careful! They are addictive. 😍 I did have to laugh at your description. When I was Chief of Finish for bobsled and skeleton at my track, i'd bring a big bowl of different US cheap chocolate bars to give to the athletes at the end. Gotta tell you, those European kids scarfed up that cheap chocolate like it was handmade luxury. They started bringing me chocolate bars from Europe. A nice way to make friends. Mhdelaware Posted September 8, 2022 #55 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Did anyone go to dinner at l’amour and was it worth it. We are supposed to go tomorrow —our last night. Sort of tired of lots of food.

Lots of courses, not a lot of food - especially if you don't eat cheese. The soup was cheese, the risotto was cheese. I'm not a gourmet person, but I don't think this was very gourmet. The wine (which I do know about) were not gourmet. Only you can decide. Why not go for the special treatment (?). It's one of the bonuses Scenic promise and you do get a table cloth, and if you don't go you'll never know... (BTW The red wine that the menu says comes from Bordeaux, in fact comes from Ventoux in the south of France. The grape varieties mentioned do not grow in Bordeaux. It's a decent drinkable but inexpensive - plonk is too strong a word - but every day wine Edited September 8, 2022 by pontac

N, no collective tip at the end, not on Scenic. I know Americans like to tip anything that moves, but on Scenic all tips are included in the price. There is no need, and it's not expected to tip anyone on top. It's often trumpeted here that nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and that it's a luxury cruise, so keep your money to yourself, it's all included. You're in Europe. Different rules apply here. Huzzah!!
